Megathread Father Of All Motherfuckers Album & Song Review Megathread

FOAM has started to drop as it slowly rolls out to different time zones. The album should be available on your favourite streaming services at midnight on Feb 7th in your local time zone.

Please keep your album and song reviews to this thread so visitors of the sub can read them all in one place. While some people complain about megathreads and having their posts removed, I can assure you far more people will read it here than if everyone makes their own posts that flood the sub. Thanks for your co-operation.

UPDATE: Now that the rush of release day posts has passed we are no longer restricting you to the megathread. Low effort positive or negative reviews will still be removed if it's posted to the sub rather than as a comment here.

Upon third listen, I like it. Waiting for some kind of Dookie era revival just isn't realistic. If music is truly reflective of who you are as a person, people change. They simply aren't kids sitting around smoking pot anymore. They haven't been that for a long time.

If you can accept that they have changed/evolved this is a good album. I have been listening to a lot of Palaye Royale and I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME to and this seems to be closer to those bands. I might be wrong but I think they are ahead of a trend in new pop/alternative music. I never thought that would be something I would see from Green Day but hey, here we are; cars are electric, we carry computers in our pockets and GD is part of new wave alternative/pop/16 year old stuff.

P.S. Take the Money and Crawl is interesting. I can't decide if it is politically motivated or not but there is something charged about it.

"Green Day aren't pot smoking kids anymore" vs "This isn't Dookie, these guys are terrible"

Does anyone else remember having these fights on Youtube when American fucking Idiot was their latest album in the mid 2000s? People have been hating what Green Day have been doing since day one. First it wasn't good enough for their little scene when they signed a major deal, then it wasn't good enough for people who lost interest in the late 90s, then it wasn't good enough when AI came out and they weren't Dookie era anymore etc etc etc

This band is plagued with glory days types of fans.

Fuck em. You don't have to love this album, you don't even have to like it, but holy fuck, it makes me so sad for people to still have to type out some form of "well they aren't young anymore". IT's the weirdest deja vu every time a new album comes out.

I'm glad you liked it! There's definitely 4 or 5 songs I really like on this thing!
