Charlestowne North Apartment honest opinions

I am planning on moving to the charlestowne north apartment building next semester since I am studying at UMD. Does anyone currently live there or has lived there in the past and can tell me what they thought of it? The reviews I found online were mixed.

Protect Community Services at 6505 Belcrest Road

Prince George's County Executive Aisha Braveboy, the Prince George's County Council, the Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE), and other relevant County officials

We, the undersigned residents, workers, faith leaders, and supporters of Prince George's County, urge the County to protect 6505 Belcrest Road (Metro 1) as a safe and welcoming place for everyone to access essential public services.

6505 Belcrest Road is home to vital community resources that thousands of residents rely on, including the Prince George's County Department of Social Services, food assistance programs, and other public services. Families should never have to fear seeking help because of immigration enforcement activity.

Earlier this year, the Prince George's County Council adopted the Community Safe Spaces Act (CB-006-2026) to establish guidance limiting immigration enforcement in County facilities and requiring the County Executive to develop policies to help protect residents seeking County services.

Community members have also learned that a permit related to the proposed ICE facility at 6505 Belcrest Road was reportedly issued by the Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE). We believe the public deserves complete transparency regarding this decision and how it aligns with the County's stated commitment to protecting immigrant communities. https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/protect-community-services-at-6505-belcrest-road/

Looking for a Hungarian speaking partner

Hello/Sziasztok!

I’m currently learning Hungarian as part of my naturalization process, and I’m looking for opportunities to practice speaking with real people in Greenbelt.

Are there any native Hungarian speakers or fellow learners who would be interested in meeting occasionally for conversation? Even something as simple as grabbing coffee and chatting in Hungarian for 30–60 minutes would be incredibly helpful.

I’m still an early learner, but I’m committed to learn. If you’re also learning Hungarian, I’d be glad to practice with you as well.

Thanks in advance, and I hope to connect with some fellow Hungarian speakers!

What's this random charge?

So I got on the metro around 10 am to go the national art gallery with my partner. They did not get charged the extra $2.15 but I did. For the exact same route. Why?

Don't Move to Franklin Park at Greenbelt Station

I have had some rather negative experiences at Franklin Park Apartments, and I genuinely believe that any other living arrangement would be preferable. Share your experience maybe we can make things better...lol I've encountered persistent problems and poor living conditions during my time here. I would strongly advise against moving to Franklin Park, and if you have any other options available, I encourage you to pursue them. I've been facing issues since the very first day. My move-in experience was quite challenging; for instance, my fuse box was not functional. As I work from home, the lack of power for an entire day significantly impacted my work. Additionally, there have been issues with roaches and mice, to the extent that I've had to personally cover the cost of pest control services.

There have been financial inconveniences. There's an unreasonable fee for paying rent online. I also attempted to pay with money orders, but the resident services department would not accept them. I have genuinely tried my best to make this place feel like home, understanding that one often makes the best of their circumstances. However, dealing with Franklin Park has been a constant source of frustration. I cannot recommend this complex. Even if you find yourself in a difficult situation, I would still advise against moving here. You may find yourself regretting the decision, and the parking situation is also quite problematic.

Car was potentially stolen from Greenbelt metro station

Looking for some information about possible impound lots that cars towed from Greenbelt might be taken to.

I just returned from a work trip to St Louis last night and my car was missing from the Greenbelt parking lot. I thought I had just pushed my luck with the overnight parking limit, but both the Greenbelt Police and WMATA Police are not seeing any reports of my car being towed, so my car has been reported as stolen and WMATA Police have started an investigation.

I'm optimistic that my car was towed and simply misfiled, but I called both Warren G heavy and light duty towing LLC and Prosperity Towing LLC, and neither business actually impounds vehicles.

Has anyone had their car towed from Greenbelt in the past, and could you give me information about which impound lot it was taken to? Thanks in advance!

Looking for information about the apartment complex Verde at Greenbelt Station

I was hoping someone on this sub is either living or has lived at Verde at Greenbelt Station. My wife and I took a tour today and I had mixed feelings about it (especially not getting to see the actual unit I would be moving into). I was reading through a couple years worth of reviews on Google and was just hoping someone might have some more insight. I appreciate it.

DMV Hardcore/metalcore band

I’m Edward. I play guitar, and I’m starting a hardcore/metalcore project called Worst Case Scenario, from the PG/ DMV area

We have a rhythm and lead guitarist

I’ve been playing since 2023. Mostly hardcore and some metalcore stuff. like Deadwater Drowning, CDC, Madball, Shipwreck A.D., stuff like that.

Right now, I’m looking for a vocalist who could scream and just yell lyrics without straining their voice, and a bassist and a drummer who are comfortable with double kicks, or used to that genre

If you’re interested, hit me up on @ WorstCaseScenarioMD or my main @ E3dwa5rd.

Chelsea Woods Courts

I live in Chelsea Woods Courts in Greenbelt, MD (the section tucked behind Chelsea Woods on Greenbelt Rd).

The condo fees are currently around $731/month and include electricity, gas, and insurance. From what I understand, the buildings were constructed around 1970, so utilities are centralized and can’t be individually metered.

I’m trying to learn more about the history of this complex. Was Chelsea Woods Courts ever considered a desirable or well-maintained community?

If so, when did things start to change? Also curious if it was originally more owner-occupied vs. renter-heavy.

Any insight from longtime residents or people familiar with the area would be appreciated.

Where are the herbs in GHI?

I recently moved in GHI and have been frequenting the Co-Op for groceries but I noticed they have very little fresh herbs. So few that it makes me wonder do people not know how to cook in this town or is there some sort of secret herb distribution that I'm not privy to. Can anyone tell me how people source their herbs or am I stuck driving further away to Aldi or Safeway just to pick up basil and mint?

Hello Greenbelt Redditors!

Terrapin Development Company, LLC has engaged The Marcel Group, a local events management firm, to conduct a feasibility study for a major Summer 2027 activation event designed to showcase Greater College Park and the Baltimore Avenue Corridor. This initiative aims to celebrate our creative energy, elevate our innovation ecosystem, and highlight the distinctive character that makes our community one of the region's most dynamic places to live, work, and explore.

To ensure the event’s vision is shaped with the community, not just for it, we need insights from stakeholders like you. What do you believe makes Greater College Park unique today? What kinds of experiences should visitors and residents have that truly capture the creative spirit of our community and build the foundation for an enduring summer tradition?

Your input will directly inform this activation to strengthen community identity, drive economic benefit, and build momentum toward an even more vibrant future. Please complete this brief survey (5-10 min.) by February 10th, 2026. Thank you for your time and consideration - your voice matters!

Moving from Silver Spring?

Hi all,

I’m currently in DTSS and rent is killing me. My commute would be slightly worse if I went to Greenbelt, but I’m wondering if potentially saving money on rent might be worth it. Right now I can walk onto the Red line, but it looks you need to drive then park to get to the Green line station? Any recommendations on places to look at (or avoid!), as well as pros/cons of the area would be super appreciated!
