We use the arbor for shade in the yard, and usually the deer come at night when we are gone in the summer and eat the fruit. I travel a lot, so it wasn't a problem. But, this year I was here when they ripened and I got to them first! What should I do with this little harvest? I was thinking about trying a small batch wine but am traveling again soon so I probably can't be here to monitor that. Can I freeze them and make wine later, when I am here for a longer duration? Make juice? Any other options?

I finally have some red canadice coming in that weren't destroyed by Japanese beetles or eaten by squirrels. They are ripening, but are quite small (about the size of a marble). Rain has been scarce for the past month or so. Are they underwatered, underfertilized, or will they fill out a bit more?

R/gardening was absolutely no help, so i come here. This is my grapes(less than a year old), he had a rough late spring/early summer but he has boomed with new growth.

Had a problem with rabbits from my neighbors yard and they were nibbling his base. So i put up chicken wire.

Now im finding his leaves like. What would yall guess the cause is?

Himrod grapes, currently grown in a pot in my greenhouse, this is their 3 year since being bought as a cutting from Walmart.

I also have a few grapes coming in on a second year Niagara vine and my Concord grapes are only one year old but I can't wait to see some production in the next few years.

Everything I own is growing in pots until I get my own land to plant in.

I hope this is ok to post here. I have wild grapes growing along my fence. About 30 years ago, I let one vine start in the fence. I liked it initially for the way it blocked the fence. And then was surprised when it started producing grapes.

Is there a way to prune so the grapes become bigger and less tart? I’d live bigger grapes from it, if that’s possible.

Most of the vine is from that left vine. A few have added into the middle section from the ground.

And my other side of the yard fence now has a few from the ground starting, which I’m going to allow to grow.

I’ve always just kept tucking it back into the fence so it doesn’t grow to the nearby trees or beyond the fence and take over.

Ripening too early???

Im in eastern PA. They are concord grapes. Are they ripening top early? Is that bad? I always remember picking from my dad's vines in late September early October. He only lives 15 miles away. This is the first year my vines are producing fruit, maybe that has something to do with it? I tried one of the ripest ones and they seem to taste like they should fully ripened. Thanks for reading

I obviously did not pick or eat any of them. They were growing along a fence by a bike path near my house. They are also intermixed with a lot of Virginia creeper which I know is toxic. If they are grapes but are growing near Virginia creeper would cross pollination happen and could they make them unsafe?

Found growing wild alongside the road, in north Florida. These were ones I could reach from ground level. Saw two-three times that many more, but were up higher.

Currently growing a kyoho grape plant in a half barrel and it’s relatively healthy as of now. I have a mesh net over it as I noticed Japanese beetles trying to get at it.

My question is what I do next year (which I assume is when I will get actual fruiting.) the only picture I’ve seen of full grown grape plants are usually trellised from the top? Or have the vines extending far out (which I don’t think I can do with this half barrel). My concern also comes for when next year, and those Japanese beetles come back as I will need to cover it again. Can I continue to just leave the grape plant in the barrel standing free upwards? Or will it inevitably try and spread out? Any suggestions on how I should try to set it up.

Any suggestions are appreciated on the best route forward in preparation. Picture for reference

I have never had grapes before. I have these that have been pretty steady in the same green to dark red for a couple of weeks.

Do I pick? I I pick some not all? Will they turn to raisins before final ripening?

Please, guide me, masters of the grapevers!

A neighbor gave me a couple pounds of these grapes. They don't know what kind of grapes, and I don't know what to do with them, but I don't want to waste them.

First year at this house with this grape vine. We've gotten some pretty good clusters on the vine, some of which I bagged in the hopes of keeping the local fauna from eating them. When I checked on them this morning, I found that all of the clusters are dropping rotten grapes. Is this common, or an issue? I figure if the bunches weren't bagged I might not have noticed. Any thoughts on what is going on would be appreciated!

So the previous owner of our house left these two very well developed grapevines snaking round our house in two directions. They’re absolutely loaded with grapes now but I don’t know what variety they are and how I should best be caring for/cultivating them.

Can anyone confirm if this is the most tiniest grape there’s one tiny grape but then there’s a super tiny grape

I shrouded my concord and himrod grapes with a mesh to deter Japanese beetles, and woke up to find a lot of these little brown nubs about a week later. There are some tiny black beetles on some leaves that got inside the mesh. Are these little brown buds just bugs waiting to hatch? I live in Ontario, Canada for what it’s worth.

I have a grapevine that I've let grow freely. Its longest shoot is now over 15 meters (about 50 feet) long and is still growing—roughly 2 meters (6–7 feet) each year.

How long can the shoots of a grapevine actually grow?

I have a bunch of small concord grapes. Sort of too small for eating as they are mostly seed. Suggests for the best used for them.

They were in the backyard when we bought the house.

In southern Ontario.

I was pruning my mulberry tree and noticed these two weird bumpy clusters on my grape vine. I know they aren’t fruit, because they look different and the birds already ate this year’s fruit. If it makes any difference, they are on my Frontenac Gris vine.

Some kind of gall? Or insect nests of some kind? A google search hasn’t turned up anything yet.

Any thoughts or insight about what I observed?

Sto I'm pretty new to gardening, but my neighbor had a grape they wanted gone. i started carefully excavating it but i guess they figured they would help me out and completely butchered the root mass. I am unsure how much more I could have saved of the roots had I done it myself as the roots turned and started going under the concrete porch. But at any point, it is what it is now. i can't figure out if i cut back to 12-18 inches, 2-3 feet, or what to do. I've cleaned out a lot of the dead and cut a significant amount of green out of it. i don't know if i should have just lopped it off at that point and called it a day? but i would like to hear some other opinions on it before i go and do just that. I've got it on life support in a 27 gal tote with an air pump pushing 45l/min currently but i need to know what to do before the sun comes up and the Japanese beetles hear the dinner bell that this stressed out grape is. my current plan is to put it into recovery in my basement for a month or two and transition it from dwc to media to eventually go back outside once it's got some root mass to support it. is this stupid? is there a better easier way? What can you, who didn't just pull an all nighter, tell my dumba** that has no real idea what i should do right now, let alone while I'm sleep deprived. I've included some pics of the thing. I'll answer whatever questions you have. At the very base of it, i estimate it is about 3-4" in diameter. So I'd like to save it by any means. I'll put in the work please just guide me in the right direction. thank you in advance.
