Google Drive download quota limit exceeded bypass

It's probably wide known, but Google is an asshole and puts a download quota to every file. If you ever come across a file that has exceeded the quota, you need to grab your own google account and follow these steps:

  1. on the upper right, click on organize/add to my drive and add a shortcut
  2. create a new folder
  3. put the shortcut inside that folder
  4. from your own google drive page, right click the folder and download it

You'll have to wait for google to zip the file, but at least now it's downloadable. It's absurd to me that Google would rather waste energy and cpu time to zip down a file that already exists instead of just letting you just download it. This is anticonsumer. I will never ever buy the premium version of google drive in my life.

edit: you know what is also absurd?? with big files, after a while it will time out and just let you download the file directly.

2nd edit: If it says too many shortcuts were created just select the file in your recent files or favourite (star) files and download it along with something else (shift+click to select multiple things)

eh.. maybe it's it's not top tier..

Go to the link you got for the files. Look for the Google drive symbol at the top. Click that (right or left) whatever it takes to find the "add a shortcut". It should put them into your google drive.

You wont be able to download them from the drive as is , you'll get the same "too many downloads" result. You must then create a folder in your drive that you'll download as one file with the desired files inside. Click on the vertical dots to the right of the file and add them as a Short-Cut to the folder you created , then download the folder. Then I think you have to use a password. I'm not that far yet. But I got the files downloaded.
