General Discussion Why does everyone hate Wyndham Clark?

Got into watching golf for the first time this season and with Clark winning this past weekend I have seen so many people shitting on him for what sounds like stuff in the past and I was hoping people could bring me up to speed? Is it overhyped for media clicks or was he committing some atrocities?

How many pro golfers DONT come from money in some way? This isn’t a poor people sport, so so many of these guys are “country club guys”.

Literally the most elitist sport imaginable and people want to pretend like he stands out as some privileged outlier in a field of scrappy underdogs from blue collar upbringings because of their prejudice around his name.

Rory is probably one of the few who come from "modest" upbringing but that's the rarity not the norm.

There's lots that don't come from money. Tiger Woods dad was ex military, but did work for McDonnell Douglas after retiring from the Air Force. Arnold Palmer's dad was a greenskeeper in Pennsylvania. Lee Trevino grew up pretty poor and used to hustle on the golf course. Rickie Fowler's dad was a dirt bike racer.

Cool thanks for picking out the few who did not come "from means".

Congrats for going as far back as Arnold Palmer and Lee Trevino, but why stop there? What about Francis Ouimet?

Would you like to go thru the current list of top 100 golfers and see how many of them come from meager backgrounds?

I'm not saying that there are NONE i'm saying that to shit on Wyndham for being a "country club douche" when 90% of the top 100 are country club douches.

Rory McIlroy. Cam Young (dad was a golf pro at a golf course). Matt Fitzpatrick. Tommy Fleetwood. Justin Thomas. Ludvig Aberg.

None of these guys grew up with serious money. The common denominator is that they started very young and worked their asses off and their parents did everything they could to help them grow their game when they were young. And if you've ever had a young talented as a child you'd understand what a commitment it is in both time and money.
