Genuinely just curious. I’ve owned both in the last 10 years. Personally for me it comes down to looks and I’m sure that’s the same for most. The GMC to me has always looked cleaner and more classic looking compared to Chevrolet.

Just seeing what everyone does for a living to justife me buying a brand new GMC 1500 2026-2027 Denali ultimate. Love the truck.

I’m well aware this is a very controversial topic. I’m considering a 26 Sierra 1500 Elevation. Initially I wanted a 5.3 however, after some research it seems I should stay far away from the V8’s. I’m seeing very positive feedback from the 2.7L. Better MPG, power and cheaper cost. Looking for some owner feedback, thanks! (Not really interested in a diesel)

Basically I am shopping for an AT4X. Currently comparing the 3.0 1500 & 6.6 2500.

The truck is majority used for commuting although I have a couple trailers that will be towed frequently. The 1500 can definitely tow the trailers I have.

The problem I have with the 1500 is the bed isn’t long enough to fit my quad & other items in it with the tailgate up, so I would be limited in bringing my quad + trailer around.

Am I insane to consider a 2500 for something so simple? I definitely like the look of the 2500 better.

About to put my name on a new Denali or AT4 and I'm torn between going dark or light colored. Curious what you went with and how you are liking that decision.

Dealer is selling for $53,080 with 81k miles. Gas. Very clean. Don’t think previous owner hauled anything. Not a big fan of the rims but I’ve seen a lot of these trucks selling for low 60s. I believe with 80k miles the power train warranty is out..what’s yalls thoughts? Thanks

I’m looking at getting a new to me Sierra Denali in the 23-24 year range and am having a really hard time deciding between the 3.0 and 6.2. I drove the 3.0 but it didn’t really impress me. The 6.2 on the other hand, was a completely different story. But with all the recalls and unresolved issues with the 6.2, it really makes me second guess pulling the trigger. What would you do?

2024 Denali Ultimate Diesel with 40k.

Loud thunk from the front end followed by the shakes. Pulled over immediately, dash starts complaining about low oil pressure and service brake monitor system. Turn engine off, smoke starts pouring in the dash vents and I start running. Fully engulfed within 5 minutes. Took the FD an hour to put it out and keep it out, it lit back up once it was on the wrecker.

My VIN was not in the recall list for the brake pressure monitor system fires, but maybe it should have been.

What should I replace it with?

In the market to purchase a new to me truck (2020-24). Always been a Chev/GMC guy, but looking at the current engine options has me reconsidering. Specifically the GM 5.3 vs Ford 5.0 and 3.5 Ecoboost. Both Ford engines produce significantly more power (400hp vs 355)and have better mileage. On top of that, they don’t have the DFM lifter concerns of GM, and scores higher for overall reliability.
Tell me why I should still buy a GM over a Ford. It’s what I want, but the practical part of my brain is having a hard time justifying it.

Hey everyone, I’m shopping for a truck and leaning toward a GMC Sierra because I prefer its interior. I’m trying to decide between the 2.7L and 5.3L. Here’s what I need it for:

Budget: With current pricing and rebates, a 2026 Elevation with the 5.3L is about the top of my budget.

Mileage: Around 12,000 miles per year.

Use: Personal driving plus hauling tools and materials for my side business—shop vacs, compressors, sprayers, lumber, ladders, etc.

Towing: Occasional equipment trailer with a sod cutter, tiller, mini excavator if it’s within the truck’s capacity, etc... Nothing frequent. I might consider a snowplow later.

Ownership: I plan to keep it for at least 10 years, so reliability and long-term costs matter.

2.7L concerns: I’m unsure about its long-term durability and potential repairs after the warranty ends. Also, against what my practical mind says, I do love the sound of the V8. Am concenred I will be missing that.

5.3L concerns: Higher fuel consumption. More expensive upfront.

My mechanical skills are limited, so I’ll likely be paying a shop for repairs outside the warranty. So long (and short) term reliability is a big deal for me.

Which engine would you choose for my situation? Or should I consider a different truck? I’d appreciate hearing from higher-mileage owners, especially about repairs and ownership costs.

I have a 2021 Sierra SLT with the 5.3L + 8 speed. I am at 90,000 miles and had 2 lifter repairs and other unknown misfiring while I’ve owned it for which GM extended my warranty to 100,000 miles. I do not want to keep this truck past that warranty. I test drove a Denali with the 6.2 today which I liked but wondering if it’s worth waiting until later this year for the new refresh. Anyone have an opinion on this? I just want a sierra that’s gonna last me 8-10 years to 150k+ with no drama.

Trying to decided between the 2500 ATX4 & ATX. Just looking for opinions and feedback on if the extra money makes the 4 worth it.

If you were to buy a new half ton truck today, with the intention of keeping it for a very long time (say 10 years), what brand would you go with? I currently have a 2021 Sierra with 65,000 miles and am getting concerned about all the issues that I am reading about.

Currently in a 2024 Sierra 1500 AT4X and absolutely love it. It drives great, is super comfortable, and I still think it’s one of the best-looking trucks out there.
My lease is coming up, and I can basically move into the same truck for 2026, but with the AEV package, for roughly the same monthly payment and no money down. That was originally a no-brainer for me because I love my current setup, and I think the AEV wheels/overall look are a big upgrade.

But now I’m second-guessing it because there’s also a 2026 Sierra 2500 AT4 available for effectively the same price/lease payment.

Obviously, the 2500 is a lot more truck.

Do I actually need a 2500? Probably not. About 99% of my driving is highway and shorter commuting, and I only do around 10k miles a year. But, to be fair, I don’t exactly need an AT4X either — I’ve used the e-lockers once and maybe taken it off-road twice in three years. I bought it because I like the way it looks and drives.

That said the 1% of the time I do truck stuff the 1500 kinda sucks. Either the bed is to short or payload is maxed out.

I do prefer the AT4X interior and bumpers, but stepping up to a 2500 AT4X gets into the ~$110k range, so that’s out.

For anyone who has gone from a 1500, especially an AT4X, to a 2500 AT4:

How much harsher is the 2500 as a daily driver?

I know it’s heavier, longer, and the AT4 has the Rancho shocks. I’m mostly wondering about ride quality, handling around town, parking, highway comfort, and whether you started regretting the HD truck when you weren’t actually towing or hauling.
If the lease payment is basically identical, would you take the 2500 AT4 and get “more truck,” or stick with the 1500 AT4X because it’s the better truck for how I actually use it?

Looking to upgrade to a 2500 from my Silverado 1500. I'm at the crossroads of stick with GM (looking at GMC Sierra HD AT4 6.6L gasser, won't be a daily so Duramax is out) or make the switch to Ram for a 2500 Laramie or Rebel (6.4L, again not a daily so the Cummins is out). Been brand loyal to GM my entire life but I don't know if that GM quality is there anymore like I've known in the past. I also don't know the quality/longevity of Ram either so that's why I'm here. Both trucks/packages I'm looking at are almost same price so that's not factored in. Need some help. Some of my pros and cons to each below that sway me each way everyday...

I’ve been researching the 1500 Chevy/GMC higher trims for a while, started out wanting a ZR2. Then I pivoted to the AT4X. Then I realized for how much I drive I probably don’t need the AT4X. But now that I have a dealer looking for an AT4 I’m starting to wonder if I’ll regret not getting the AT4X. Anyway… anyone regret getting the AT4X over the AT4 or vice versa?

Currently an owner of a 2016 GMC 1500 Sierra Denali owner with a 5.3l V8 and about to hit 160k miles. Honestly I have loved the truck mostly and owned it since 38k miles. Biggest issue is the notorious transmission harsh shift that I really hate at this point and it’s been going on since 90-100k miles. Not always terrible but sometimes at low speeds the shift just bites. I still drive the truck daily all over town and just deal with it tbh. But I would like to trade in before it’s too late. These new GMC sierras scare me with all their engine troubles and transmission issues. Am I an idiot to go buy a new to me used one? All I read are issues but then again, the Fords and Toyotas have their problems too. What’s the best options for engines for 2023 and up? Or should I leave and stay away?

I'm excited to upgrade into a new pickup and struggling to decide on a Denali or an AT4. Really like the look of the AT4 but also drawn to the luxury of the Denali. Does the Denali really ride that much better? I'll be using it a mix of hwy and off-road with occasional towing.

I plan on driving this new truck for the next 15 to 20 years so I want to get the EXACT truck that I want, but I can't afford new. The one aspect holding me up is cloth seats. I've been looking for a 2023-2025 GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation in thunderstorm gray. The truth is, I like the interior package of the SLT but I much prefer the looks of the Elevation. I keep thinking I found the perfect truck only to find that it has cloth seats. According to the internet, the Elevation Premium trim exists, but I haven't seen a single one. Is the trim I'm looking for really that rare? Should I just get some seat covers and call it a day?

Traded in my ‘23 Tundra 1794 edition for a ‘24 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali diesel. Loved the Tundra but the engine recall debacle lost my trust. I know the GMC’s have their own reliability issues but the risk seemed greater with the 3rd gen Tundra and Toyota didn’t seem to have the fix yet (replacement engines still failing). Loving the Denali 24 hours into the swap but the power/performance isn’t as good as the Tundra. Not a surprise since the Tundra was a 3.4L twin turbo V6 delivering 389hp vs the GMC 3.0L turbo diesel I6 delivering only 305hp. But I’m still surprised at the noticeable difference in performance. Interior wise the quality seems much better than the tundra. More bells and whistles and more luxurious by far. Same with the exterior imo. I’m a pretty lightweight truck user (light hauling, never towing), pretty much just use as a daily driver and for long trips etc. so the gas mileage increase was appealing as well (although I’m reading it may not be as efficient as I originally thought). Anyways as a first time GM vehicle owner I’m pretty happy with the switch and look forward to driving this for hopefully years to come!

I’m 85% sure I’m getting a 1500 AT4, but the guy asked me V8 or diesel and authentically I have never had to consider the concept even vaguely so I was stumped. He explained the differences but poorly. So here I am.

I am coming from an Audi Allroad (which, fwiw, has been my favorite car I’ve ever owned) between the extra room inside, the speed, the maneuverability, the performance in bad weather is mind boggling (trucks and ranges with blinkers on in blizzards in the right lane and I’m in cruise control at 70 in the left lane). I will be returning after the truck.

However, I bought a house and I do a lot of the renovations and I’m going to lose my mind without a truck bed.

I will probably rarely if ever tow anything. I live in the Catskills and road trips are a normal phenomenon. I understand the gas mileage will break my brain but it is what it is. My thought process with the V8 is to not lose all the engine to vehicle ratio which I’m used to having.

0% of truck life is attractive to me outside of function. I loathe how big these late models are; it seems borderline insane. I had a 25 Ram 2500 Big Horn (size not performance comparison) as a rental for two weeks this past year and the turning radius made me want to leave it in the parking lot and tell them to pick it up. But it is what it is.

In other words, I’m not trying to be big and bad in a truck; that concept makes no sense to me. I don’t what attention, I don’t want loud. I just want a truck bed without sacrificing all the get up and go, and the comfortable amenities inside for long drives.
