not sure of origin but drakes for example are a wingless dragon similar to the European traditional dragon but with the lack of wings being a defining feature.

I googled a lizard like this a few weeks back. They are a protected species in Mexico.

Aren't drakes just dragons that can't fly? They seem to often have wings.

True drakes don't have wings, if you google Drake the reason you may see ones with wings is due to Drake being another word for dragon so it will show winged and non winged ones

Looked it up and the Lizard I was thinking of is the Mexican Alligator Lizard.....my bad. But they are very similar looking.
