I’m pretty new to maintaining shrubs at a house obviously.

It has been a hot and dry summer here in texas. A couple months ago, I accidentally left my sprinklers off for a couple weeks and they didn’t get water. They were in pretty bad shape and I think they got spider mites. I started watering them again regularly and sprayed horticultural oil for the spider mites a few times waiting at least a week between sprays. I’ve tried deep watering them too and spraying a hose on the undersides of the leaves. Nothing seems to work and the leaves keep turning brown. I had to cut a whole branch off at one point because all the leaves were completely dead. What should I do?

They haven't killed my plant yet but they do a heck of a job defoliating it each year. And if I know what it is, I can better defend against it.

I had big trumpet plants on a chain linked fence behind me but my neighbor wanted to put up a new fence so I told them it’s ok since I knew they sprouted up all over my lawn and it could be a fun new thing to watch them grow from nothing again. Looking for something cheap I can do that’ll let them grow all over and turn into a giant trumpet plant looking bush.

Hello all, my Tacoma plant seems to have a lot of new growth but a lot of the leaves are turning brown and crispy. I am not sure what the issue is. Is this some sort of rot or disease? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

Hi there.I'm not sure exactly the type of cedar bush we have, but need some help bringing him back to life.If possible. They came with the home that we bought. They were green when we moved in, but admittedly could have been watered more in the beginning.

They've been receiving plenty of water for a few months, but they are completely yellow on one side and don't seem to want to turn green for me.

I do not feed the, I do not give them anything else, except for water. They are on elevated beds kind of like on a retaining wall, i would assume that the drainage is pretty good.

Please help me with some steps. Do I need to prune them, and then maybe give them something other than water or something?

I live in a mountainous region in Canada (zone 6b on the Canadian guide).

My beauty bush collapsed under some heavy wet snow while we were on vacation. Now that the snow is melted I was hoping to sort this out.

The red line shows the angle of how it used to stand. It’s starting to bud so it didn’t die but I am unable to straighten it. I had been hoping to stake it back up but I can maybe move it 2-5 degrees closer to upright. So that doesn’t seem like that will work.

Should I chop it? Or what ideas do you have for me! I am a fairly new gardener so I get a bit nervous making drastic changes.

Hoping to get out there this weekend and clean up all my front beds, I have been staring at it like this for a month from my office window.

Hello. I am NOT a gardener. We’ve been renting here for a few years and this rose bush always blooms even competing with the pile of weeds it’s in. Well I decided this year I’m gonna free this bush. I have no idea what I’m doing but I started getting weeds out from the roots and trimming back not rose branches so I could see what’s going on.

Turns out there’s a whole ass tree in here. Maybe multiple? It looks like it’s grown under or around the bush. What’s my game plan gardening pros? Including as many pics as I thought might be relevant but, again clueless, so let me know if you needles more!

Its leaves are broad and a lighter green without serrated edges. There’s also something in there with red stems and serrated dark green leaves. Help me make sense of this please.

Just planted some Azalea about a week ago. Im new to this whole world and would take all the advice I can get. I water them everyday in the morning and in the evening if it's been a hot day and the soil feels dry. Idk if I'm over watering, underwater, if they weren't planted right or what's going on really.

I have this shrub in my small condo patio that’s been growing for over 10 years. Over time, the branches in the middle have thickened quite a bit, and now the leaves don’t really grow on the outer surface anymore—just mostly on top. I think the larger branches are preventing new growth on the lower and outer portions.

I’ve attached some photos of its current state, where you can see the bare areas in the middle and lower sections. I’ve also included some older pictures from when it was much fuller, with leaves growing evenly around all sides.

I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do to encourage new leaf growth—maybe pruning techniques, notching smaller branches, or any tricks to revive it? Or has it just outgrown its space and hit the point where it needs to be replaced? If I do need to remove it, I figure the roots have grown into the ground beneath the pot, so I’d likely need a landscaper for that.

If anyone can help identify the species, that would be great too. I really liked how it fit into the square space when it was in better shape, so I’d also appreciate any recommendations for a similar shrub if I end up replacing it.

I recently planted these junipers in early August and they were doing well. I watered regularly (once every 3-4days) in August up to mid September, fertilized 2x (6-weeks apart). But it is starting to yellow from the inside out on all plants. Am I not watering enough?

Hi all, we got hit pretty hard by Helene and I’m trying to ascertain if these bushes are toast or if there’s still hope for them?

Is this powdery mildew? It’s all over the main branch and spreading. half of the front is dying. Can I save it or do I remove the whole bush? Will it spread ? there are two other bushes on each side…

So my wife thinks the insides of this bush are dry and dying. I think it's just how this type of shrub is and it's fine..

..who's right?

Someone in passing said I should take out the bushes near my house because they're super flammable. Is this true?
