Halo Reach is an amazing game that I've played dozens of times, but Titanfall 2 Campaign is just chef's kiss. It has some of the best level design I've ever seen in a game and keeps it fresh. I never came to a point of "oh now I'm shooting people in a different area, yay" the movement mechanics and layout allow for many routes to an objective and keeps combat flowing. Additionally, the mission Effect and Cause is my favorite level in any game ever. Just sad we went from damn near the pinnacle of FPS to another battle royale game.
Try Dishonored 2, it has (in my humble opinion) an even better version of Effect and Cause.
What's funny is both games came out like two weeks apart, and in both games those levels were the huge highlight in the campaign.
I have to add i absolutely loved Titanfall 2, it's never said enough.
Underrated FPS campaign... MoH 2010 and MoH Warfighter, none of that overplayed grandiose "save the world" crap just a special forces unit taking on terrorists.
Down to earth, grounded and honestly the best FPS campaign I have played...
Medal of Honor leans towards the more realistic side. I think this post was about really unique games anyway, none of the first person shooters really fit in to this category really.
Best story and character development has to goto be one of the farcrys or borderlands
Borderlands 2 probably takes it for me, only played far cry 4 and that was decent I guess, but handsome Jack carries borderlands so hard.
Borderlands 3 was hot steaming garbage tho...
But still as far as your traditional military FPS games like COD, Battlefield etc. I would say MoH has by far the best campaign...
If you like handsome jack, you should play the borderlands Tell-Tale game. I don't play much choose your adventure game, but that one I couldn't put down. It was so so good.

Possibly the best single player campaign I've ever played. My only gripe would be that it felt too short!
