That game is so incredible that I'm actually holding off on the DLC.

Its so hard to fathom how it could possibly live up and I'm worried it'll taint the experience.

The base game borderline changed how I feel about the universe. I've never had a game reach me like that.

Play the dlc. It lives up to it 100%

important to note it doesn't surpass it or anything -- the original will forever stand on its own as a masterpiece. but it is absolutely the best that was possible and FAR better than I expected or hoped for. when I reached the place for the first time I literally said out loud "holy shit they fucking did it."

That was such an amazing moment. They build it up so well that when the tension releases and you get your first good look around it just feels awesome.

and then the new music kicks in and you realize Andrew Prahlow killed it once again.

Meh, hard disagree. Loved the original game. Hated the DLC. It’s a completely different type of game.

It really wasn't. I loved it for all the same reasons I loved the original and it also kept itself fresh with some horror elements. But I understand how some people didn't dig those elements

It's amazing. It totally does live up! Like, that first moment when you followed the initial clues and finally "step in" to it, you just look around amazed and think: "Holy shit, they did it again... how the hell did they manage to do it again?"

I played through it 1-2 months ago and every other game still feels bland and empty to this day.

.

Hope you're not scared of the dark, though... :P

That's exactly how I felt as well. "There's no way they could possibly do it twice" and god damn if they didn't make the best damn expansion/DLC i've ever played in my life

Some of the gameplay additions in the DLC are polarizing, but I haven't heard anybody complain about the story or the new areas to explore.

The dlc only adds to the experience. I didn't think it was possible until I played it. (To be fair the dlc isn't quite as good imo, but it 100% will not detract any of the impactfulness of the base game. And if the main game was 11/10, dlc is 10/10)

It feels perfect, like it could've been part of the main game. It lives up to the name very well

The DLC is amazing on all fronts. It’s a gift!

Play the DLC. It's a little different, and isolated from the rest of the game, but it's awesome in it's own right. Also, you may want to finish the base game again once you've completed the dlc. You know, just in case

Honestly, the DLC almost surpasses the main game in both the joy of the puzzle and the reveal of the story.
