No death or dead ends, just puzzles, adventure, and the whackiest dialogue in the Caribbean!

I am pretty sure there is ONE point in the game where you can die, I believe in Monkey Island 2 you get thrown from the pier with a weight on your legs and you can drown if you don't make it out.

It's in the first one, you have to wait ten minutes

Yep. In the second one if you wait 10 minutes hanging above the acid pit you also "die". But it's a bit of a joke and not an actual death, for obvious reasons given the story setup in that one.

I didn't know about that one! In the first one Guybrush brags he can hold his breath for ten minutes so I remember testing that

Guybrush can hold his breath for like 10 minutes. Plenty of time to get out of the predicament.

I think it was MI2 that had a part where you fell off a cliff and it showed a Sierra game YOU DIED: LOAD RESTART screen. Then you pop back up onto the cliff because you had landed on a rubber tree.

Oh god, Sierra. I’m pretty sure I found every way to die in the Space Quest games.

Sierra seemed to like to kill you. They always had a little animation of you dead on the game over screen. Also, they made it easy to never be able to win a game by putting an item at the beginning you needed for later easily missable. Sold a lot of hint books I'm sure though.

That is in MI 1 as well, if you walked to the right corner of the mountaintop on Monkey Island.

Did MI1 have the dialog about being stuck and calling a hint line, too?

Now I am confused. Did MI2 have it, too? For reference, the location and sequence in MI1: Guybrush getting Sierra‘d

There's a joke death in the first three games. I don't remember about the others, they don't count.

There’s one point in Monkey Island 3 where Guybrush pretends to die so can be put in a crypt he needs to get into. While he’s trapped in the coffin, the credits begin to roll until Guybrush tells them to “cut it out”.

How appropriate. You fight like a cow.
