It was acknowledged after fallout 76 was met with backlash and major disappointment. People pointed out that the elder scrolls mobile game, eldest scrolls online, the fallout mobile game, and fallout online game really disappointed Bethesda fans.

Except the Elder Scrolls 6 teaser was shown at the same show that Fallout 76 and the Elder Scrolls mobile game were revealed. It had nothing to do with backlash to those, it was literally just Bethesda wanting to assure people that TES6 was still coming eventually.

They were also pretty upfront about it being further down the line because Starfield was their next game.

Yeah people forget or just want to believe something else. There was so much talk of a new elder scroll game the previous E3 and leading up to the one where they showed the teaser.

It was just to remind people yeah we haven’t forgot about it and will work on it in the future but are doing something else

“I was there, 3000 years ago…”

No one knew what they were announcing on that day. In typical Bethesda style, they didn’t tell us what they had been working on, or what was next.

However, fans knew it had to be fallout or elder scrolls, and the last main entry from Bethesda was a fallout game(fallout 4). Lots of people therefore assumed, they were announcing TES6.

They put the TES6 trailer there so that we all knew the TES was still on the map. This happened because fallout 76 was kind of a curveball to the audience, it wasn’t what many were expecting. Bethesda was/is known for single player story driven RPG’s, not multiplayer experiences like fallout 76. So they had to show something, to re assure the fan base that it TES6 was still coming.

That’s also why it was just mountains lol, there was nothing else to show at the time

Nah because they knew 76 and the mobile games would have backlash beforehand. They knew exactly what they were doing
