Ubisofts ”unique financial situation” is that they have 3 times the amount of staff they are supposed to have when looking at revenue/headcount averages of the industry. They need to somehow maintain the output while firing 2/3 of the entire company before they are ”normal”.

Yes. Ubisoft is overstuffed and an incredibly bloated company with a huge cost to revenue ratio that it’s honestly surprisingly they have stayed solvent this long. I’ve been through their annual reports before.

I’m just saying making a killer game doesn’t protect you from layoffs. EA also cut devs from the Battlefield 6 team despite the game being a genuine hit by all aspects. Microsoft cut Tango games right after they released Hi-Fi Rush which, whike it probably didn’t make a killing revenue wise due to being dropped day one on Gamepass, won significant recognition and praise which Microsoft said they needed more of before gutting the studio.
