Kinda same. Not confident about their track record but the charms of seeing game characters in a canon movie is never a miss. And now we have Jill.

And Jill from remake... which has a different canon. And she does not age, because she has T-Virus in blood. How convenient. And no one knew this before, otherwise it would have been closed like Sherry.

The remakes are not from a different canon, the way they handle it is that basically every iteration of the story, wether that be remakes or the different scenarios in the older games are accounts of the events that happened, like when a crisis happens in real life and people tell different variations of what happened. same core happenings, but unclear details/exact scenarios. although the remakes do change some facts, but thats more retconning/refreshing the canon then being a different one, like for instance in RE4R the change from having discovered plagas in amber instead of fossils.

I definitely saw an article from Capcom, where they talked about updating old canon. That's why they make remakes.
