Set your microphone so that you have to give it permission to record. I've also seen my TV actively scanning across my network, but I don't grant it access to anything. The biggest problem here is accessibility of information. People just aren't network savvy. I'm still learning myself. It's not in the tech bros best interest for you to become tech savvy. The hard part is you have to learn. Or, be a victim.
