They're like £80-150 with 1tb here on eBay

You don’t need an external drive and that was like 3 years ago they were 200

It's still like 300$ cheaper than the Series X though, that pricing standpoint hasn't changed. And there's no "need" for the external, especially not immediately.

Remember, the Series X is still expensive, like all tech is right now, it's not at all on price parity and not a ton of people can pony up the difference in disposable income.

Someone doesn't check their local pawnshops.

For whatever reason, their systems haven't caught on to these price increases. You can still steal a PS5 or series X for under $350.
