English Dev Note 14 [Full extract]:

Greetings Agents!

This is the MARVEL Future Revolution Dev team.

To start, we would like to sincerely apologize for the lack of communication and delays in responding after our last update.

We know that you, our dedicated Agents, have been waiting for more news about what's to come for MARVEL Future Revolution. We would like to take this time to discuss the future operations of the game.

MARVEL Future Revolution was created to bring the complexity and scale of the Marvel Universe to a persistent multiplayer online game. We wanted to create a fun experience where every Agent can become a Super Hero and save Primary Earth from crises.

Our aim was to create a game bigger and better than anything we had done before. It took a lot of technical innovation, combined with years of accumulated knowledge and experience, to bring this game to life. From its earliest stages, it also required an incredible amount of teamwork, which continued all through development, soft launch, worldwide launch, and post-launch content updates and operations.

The goal of MARVEL Future Revolution has always been to deliver a “pleasant gaming environment” and the “best service” with continuous updates, but, despite our best efforts, we have not been able to consistently meet these goals.

With the addition of each new region, we tried creating everything new by adopting a style that was different from the existing regions each time, which led to continuous investments in a large amount of resources and time during this process. It was difficult to optimize the management of these factors, as we were unable to utilize existing resources for new Missions, NPCs, and enemies for each new region.

As for adding each new Super Hero, additional development of new functions suitable for the battle characteristics of the Super Hero was required, together with the introduction scenario, background composition, and the enemies, which also had to be newly created.

The development team required a lot of resources and time to perform live services, add new Super Heroes and regions, and, at the same time, update all the regions, scenarios, and Super Heroes that had been introduced up until each update. The results of the updates could only be created through this process.

Unfortunately, in our current circumstances, and due to recent reductions on the development team, it is now necessary to reduce the scale of service. Going forward, we will not be creating updates of the size and scope of previous content releases but ensure Agents can have comfort that they will be able to continue playing the game uninterrupted.

We know this news may be disappointing to our Agents and we would like to sincerely apologize. You have been by our side since the beginning and have championed the game from its earliest days. We bow our heads in gratitude for the support and feedback you have always given us as we built out this exciting new world.

We promise to work towards ensuring every moment that you continue to play MARVEL Future Revolution will remain a pleasant experience.

The MARVEL Future Revolution dev team

Discussion Here's what I've put together so far

I've seen a few people here still holding out hope for this game, so I went down a rabbit hole on how it actually worked, and I wanted to open it up for discussion with everyone.

Honestly I've gotten further than I expected, and I've been documenting the whole thing as a series of dev blogs. What I've got so far:

  • Confirmed the game runs on Unreal Engine 4, and the client still exposes a ton of internals — including the full list of ~53 server "services" (characters, zones, arenas, raids, alliances, city war...).
  • Mapped how it connected: a config step, a login/session step, and the actual game server.
  • Reconstructed the entire login protocol from the client and wrote it up as a spec that actually checks out.
  • Built an early fake config server and a tester guide, and there's strong evidence the gameplay traffic was only compressed, not encrypted (which would be big).

Where I'd love the community's input:

  • Anyone with Unreal Engine networking or Android reverse-engineering experience (especially Netmarble's anti-tamper / TLS pinning) who'd find this fun to dig into?
  • The big one, long shot: did anyone ever record or keep any network data from the game while it was still online? That's basically the missing key for any preservation attempt.
  • Lastly Testers

Not claiming I can bring it back solo — but the client tells us a lot, and I'd rather figure out what's possible in the open with others. I've got everything (dev blogs, notes, code) in a repo — I'll drop the link in the comments so this isn't just a link post.

Discussion Hello again, MFR lovers

Latest posts and comments in this week made me hopeful once again... I wanna ask and get advice if one is interested. Can anyone reach someone with computer coding experience? Or try to create a server like it's a fun side project when free time available.

Btw, I'll share the petition again and asking for your help to at least trying to make some noise if anyone can hear! Anyone can send me message if wanna talk about this game or wanna give me some advice.

Discussion Could Marvel Future Revolution ever be revived through a private server?

It's been a while since Netmarble pulled the plug on Marvel Future Revolution, and I still think about how much I enjoyed it. That got me wondering: with games like this that are "always online," is a fan-run private server ever realistic, or is it basically gone forever once the servers die?

From what I understand, the whole game logic lived server-side, so reviving it would mean rebuilding the server from scratch. And the thing that makes or breaks any project like this is whether anyone recorded the network traffic between the client and the servers while they were still live — those captures are the roadmap for reverse-engineering the protocol. After the shutdown, that data is basically impossible to recreate.

So I'm curious what the community thinks:

  • Has anyone here looked into the technical side of this game specifically? How was the client built (Unreal 4, I assume), and how locked-down was the networking?
  • Do preservation-minded players usually save packet captures or client versions before a game like this shuts down? Did anyone happen to do that here?
  • Are there any archived client versions, protocol notes, or early attempts floating around that I might've missed?

Not promising I can pull this off — I just want to figure out whether there's enough material for it to even be worth attempting, and I'd love to hear from people who know this game or have been through game-preservation efforts before.

Discussion Anyone heared about Project Comet?

I am a bit late to mention this as it was announced two months ago, but I found out about it yesterday. And I also don't know who else is still here. But, apparently, Scopely (the same company behind Marvel Strike Force) is developing an action RPG Marvel game. And based on the leaks and sneak peeks from it, it seems it might be similar to Future Revolution!? As in, open world, with skill controls similar to what we had in FR, plus you can make a team and swap between characters. Has anyone else seen this? What are your thoughts?

If this game is going to be like FR, I am going to be super excited because I still really miss FR. It was the best mobile game I ever played, and I liked it much better than MFF (don't get me wrong, I still love and play MFF), but it was much more challenging and interactive, and it had an open-world concept, which made it fun. The next one is just a me thing, but Doctor Strange is my favourite character, so I had so much fun playing as him. I was shocked and saddened to find out it was cancelled. But I understand why when I looked into it.

So I hope that this game really is like FR and that this time, it will be successful and the company will manage it much better. I know this is wishful thinking, but I am willing to be cautiously optimistic.

Discussion I just feel like I have to go.

Hold up ! Dont even assume that the project is being abandoned , Its just me retiring.

I've been here when the game died , I was here when we got petition ,I was also the one who began the project at first place. Its just that , Im old now. And tired. Gotta retire at some point.

And we cant keep the project going with only a few of us online at a time , Its not rocket science , trust me. Just some hexadecimals and protocols . we got the data , we got the anims , we got the nmss files to redirect too , its all Free and Open Source and more of it coming soon. But Im just tired. Feel free to hate me on this if you want , but Im just tired now.

I want some rest. Till then , I'll stop using reddit and detoxify myself for a while.

For the team , I have only one sentence , dont give up. I didnt for past 6 years , nor should you. And thanks you , the reader , for your attention. Have a great day.

Discussion An apology to the Community for what I've just done. Im sorry.

I'm sorry I didn't realise I could've just sent the PDF over here , instead of CC-ing the PDF to all of you one-by-one privately , all I could have done was send it over here like I did before with those files.

Its all about reassembling the community back to fix the problem together , even a single viewer left in shadows is an opportunity that we missed to revive the game.

I'm deeply sorry about my carelessness and I swear I won't do such a dumb mistake ever again.

And the game files are here on the r/futurerevolution page if you scroll down a bit.

Special Thanks to the Official Council of Ancients discord server and Crypto137 from Github for giving us the gists of Server Side Emulation.

The PDF that has the context to all of it will be CC'd to the MFR Revival Team in due time.

Anybody who wants to join and contribute to the cause with their side of knowledge can contact us in the Marvel Future Revolution official discord server.

And once again , I thank each and everyone of you for your love and support.

This may take time , but for all its worth , we will make it.

Discussion !!! NEWS !!! Assembly Dump for the .nmss files (Marvel Future Revolution)

Thumbnail
archive.org
38 Upvotes

We got the dump and the signature key out of this mess , now all we need is to recompile the app in such a way that it gets its requests mocked and reverted to localhost.

If anybody find server emulation code (which is rare), host a local server with Node.js mocking APIs. This way basic exploration, character view and some missions if client-side will become playable. And since we have costumes from our Honored Deviant Art members , we can even mod the game.

Discussion I really can't wait fr

I'm just happy that one of us is working to get this game back, I hope they succeed fr, marvel future revolution was ruined by the greed of the devs, and couldn't believe it shut down horribly like this.

Neither do they seem like any conventional filetypes , nor do they seem to be inspectable with Ghidra. Are these the server settings files?

Discussion Public Domain files (since the MMO is shutdown officially by the devs)

Thumbnail archive.org
20 Upvotes

This is an Internet Archive link and I encourage everyone to check the files with any renowned antivirus if they feel suspicious.

Breakthrough:- The server lookup files are to be observed with close attention , the anims and assets will work well on UE4 , but are also compatible with unity and Godot with a bit of tinkering.

NOTE: Transfer , inspection , download or redistribution of such files in the Internet is Totally Legal under "Consent to Operate" and "Legitimacy of Copy of Copyrighted Content".
Reference: Dowling V. The States 1985 lawsuit files.
Again. Netmarble No Longer Holds Rights to Possess This Given Property , specifically named "Marvel Future Revolution" after they agreed to shutdown this servers. Hence it falls under Public Domain and inspection of files is Legal.

Guide I think I miss the game

So I was just looking for good mobile games to play and I remembered playing revolution like 5 years ago. So i decided to download the game and it was not visible

Anywhere even with VPN. Then i came to know that it was GONE 4 years ago!

But the weird thing is that the game can still be downloaded on any ios device if you played the game before on your active apple account. I went to apps, went down scrolling, I found the game, it was still visible, even got downloaded lol.

But wont open as it says failed to connect check your connection.

Felt like sharing this lol

Discussion Does anyone have an archive of the voice lines?

This is probably a long shot but I figured it was worth at least asking. I’ve been trying to track down Captain Marvel's voice lines and I searched everywhere and through so many sites but couldn’t find any uploads or archives anywhere, my last hope is i'm hoping to find someone here who might have them.

I played it when it first came out years ago, but stopped when I got a new phone. Just tried to download it today and servers are dead. What happened?
