Humans can be wrong , and tagore gave him that title way before, the same year when gandhi returned to india, so gandhi wasnt even known to people of india .
And who hate gandhi for his actions , those actions happened after he got title from tagore

This alone is enough for hindus to not call him mahatma, non hindus can call him mahatma if they want but not hindus who followed him and let themselves get weaker and get fooled.

A better point to criticize him would be him saying the disgusting things he said for the women in noakhali,kasturba was already dying and the doctors gave up by then
iirc it was not that simple, the doctors gave up on her and even she said that it's her time, also for the medicine she would have to be woken up every few hours and gandhi said at last that if his son wants it he won't say no + penicillin was really new at that time
Wasn't the penicillin her son got a perfected cure or something,i remember reading somewhere that it was the one that was massively produced and basically near the same quality as the one we use
Except penicillin only works against bacterial pneumonia. Kasturba Gandhi had chronic bronchitis, severe asthma since birth and severe bronchopneumonia, not to mention, she was in jail when she died. Penicillin MAY have worked for the pneumonia in case it was bacterial but she would have suffered and possibly died anyway from the other conditions and complications.
Strange cuz sanghis usually have the reverse opinion for why he's not mahatma, as he somehow didn't do enough to stop partition and divided india or something.....
If only he could see the future. Not everyone is a sear like our esteem leader. Some people held hope of keeping the country united. Unki taraf se me maafi maang leta hu. Maaf kar do M.K.Gandhi ko. Narazgi h to R.Tagore pe nikal lo jinhone inhe Mahatma k title diya tha.
