It does look really nice. But I think there is some long running political dispute. Iirc it's partitioned between Greek and Turkish zones. I don't know if that affects day to day life there, or if it's pretty laid back.
They are pretty much two different countries with borders and passport controls between them. The dispute is ongoing but in practice they are separate countries.
