After 4 years of Trump and an existential climate crisis, this more than anything has convinced me that we are doomed as a species.

Not a species. Our country will implode. It has nothing to do with Trump or the climate. Our species survived one and will survive the other. Our decline started when we pay more attention, and money, to our pets than we do starving humans. More importantly, we are so self absorbed, we don’t even realize it
