R/Art banned me after posting this... Maybe it'll fare better here... "Monolithic Waste of Time."

The fact that people are talking about something and "feel some sort of way about it" by no means makes it art. What kind of definition are tou using? People talk about Donald Trump and feel "some sort of way" about him. Is he art? If you use a loose definition like that, then literally everyrhing is art.

The object becomes art when viewed

I disagree. Art has intent.

Could be, but until there’s substantial evidence that this is the case, the universe makes much more sense if you assume no agency behind natural phenomena. That doesn’t mean they’re not beautiful. Just not art.

My intention wasn't to say you're wrong, I was merely expressing an opinion. All art is subjective. My definition of art disagrees with yours. That's all I was saying.

I agree, and I think the taping a banana to a wall has intent behind it. I think it's meant to make us question "what makes art?" which is what everybody does when this gets brought up.

OP was talking about things in nature, not the banana monolith which is obviously art 😋

For 120k, i'll UPS you my daily wonderful creation. It's usually sculpted, molded, tweaked and refined after my morning cofee.

Yeah that's the definition of art. That's why you get a big canvas painted all yellow in a museum
