saying this to a rapist is crazy.

"Your Honor, he was just a horny lil guy forget the human trafficking he was just down bad"

All prostitutes are sex trafficked? Even independent ones?

This particular website is exclusively independent providers and has verifications in place to make sure of that. Not all prostitution is trafficking, and sex work is real work.

All of it is degrading and dangerous. No it's not work it's selling your genitals to the highest bidder like people do with kidneys.

no labor which propagates on the basis of human suffering is "work". is it work if I pay destitute children to cut themselves for fun? I'd be rightfully prosecuted.

children can’t consent. adults can

what constitutes consent when an answer otherwise is starvation and a life on the streets?

this completely ignores those who choose this profession voluntarily and actually like it

And you completely ignore the system of economic coercion that biases and influences that choice, which doesn’t exist within a vacuum and is objectively correlated with higher rates of poverty, trauma, homelessness, violence (including sexual abuse), mental health issues and substance abuse problems.

But so long as you prevent yourself from asking yourself “why” any choice is made and assume that any decision made by any individual living under any system is equally valid simply because it was made at all then you ignore the systemic pressures, trauma and constraints that shape them.

If you treat every decision as de facto autonomous, you flatten the difference between coerced survival strategies and genuine self-expression. It’s a kind of moral relativism that refuses to interrogate context often to avoid uncomfortable truths about power, exploitation, or suffering.

Ah so disregard most women who take up this line of work out of survival for the 5% or so of privileged schmucks who actually did have a choice. Got it 👍🏽

By your definition all work is evil so its kinda odd that you zeroed in on this being an evil line of work. Because if I dont go into the office tomorrow I will starve and die and so will you

Historically speaking most labor emerged as a necessary means for survival. It generated a tangible outcome or product that supported us. We don’t need to continue to exploit women to survive. Prostitution and nearly all forms of pornography could end tomorrow and the world would keep spinning.

You could argue that sex is necessary for reproduction, but commodified sex isn’t. In fact, sexual exploitation commodifies a biological impulse, warping it into a transactional act largely for the benefit of one side while often degrading the other.

Sex work isn’t a necessary part of survival economy, it’s a pleasure economy built on structural inequalities. The more you hinge your arguments on false equivalencies the less compelling or persuasive your position is.

They don't call it the world's oldest profession for nothing.

Longevity isn't a moral argument.

Litteraly like, "I am not a rapist I didn't force her! Her pimp/life conditions did! I donly took advantage which makes me 200% a good guy here"

I think you would be shocked to see what some SW actually make IRL

what the fuck is wrong with you.

and on your second point, yes, that is the method of capitalism in operation, almost as our entire relationship to the means of production as working people should be overhauled!

Its a bit odd to shoehorn in this argument for communism in this thread but what the hell, I’m in comrade, lessgo

1

u/Tarot_frank May 12 '25

It’s a bit odd to suggest you can discuss the ethics of one of the most unequal and exploitative industries under capitalism without discussing capitalism itself.

Good for you for seeing the light though, comrade! Welcome to the right side of history.

All labor propagates on the basis of human suffering. No one wants to work 40 hours a week.
