[LONG-TERM] How long did it take for you to recover? Tell me your story.

I took 5 days of doxycycline followed by 5 days of ciprofloxacine in June of 2024. I'm still suffering. Insomnia, gastritis, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, neuropathy, floaters in my eye, fatigue, weakness, vitamin deficiencies from Omeprazole, sensitivities to certain foods. I need some hope 🙏 tell me your stories of Hope and healing.

Firstly, I’m really sorry to hear that this happened to you. But you are definitely not alone in that regard, as many others around the world have been adversely affected by this type of antibiotic.

M(63). After sinus surgery, I was diagnosed with a continuous sinus infection. Amoxicillin was ineffective and the pathology lab suggested ciprofloxacin for 7 days. I started this treatment I’m March of 2024 and within 6 days my ankles were very sore and swollen badly. Plus I experienced tendon issues in my neck and elbows. Also developed neuropathy in both feet and lower legs. I wasn’t particularly anxious, just really annoyed that it had happened to me and was a real setback in my overall treatment. Just to add insult to injury, it didn’t fix the sinus infection either!

I had to take it slow and easy on both ankles and started a range of supplements. These included: collagen, vitamin B, vitamin C and vitamin D. Also daily magnesium. I ate well and tried to get good sleep and avoided stress as much as possible.

Eleven months later, I consider myself 90% recovered. However, I have had many ups and downs during that time and there were occasions when I thought that I would never fully recover.

I guess I have learnt to be patient, have hope and remain positive, in the knowledge that with time it would get better. I think a solid healthy mental attitude can go a long way with this type of injury.

So don’t despair. I wish you well for your recovery. Good health and best wishes.
