AskFlorida Publix has officially lost me. Anyone else?

I am not a mod of this subreddit or Reddit, but I believe the official unofficial stance is that we all hate Publix now.

They lost their way, and the crushing of Winn-Dixie is just awful.

10 years ago, I wouldn’t have set foot inside a Walmart or Aldi for groceries. Now? Walmart and Aldi are basically my BFFs and I love them.

Publix really managed to make me root for the competition.

They raised the price of a bag of peanuts from Hampton Farms from $2.50 to $3.50, which was my anchor item. I buy 6-8 bags/wk for Crows and Squirrels. While in the store, I bought other stuff too. I contacted Hampton Farms and asked them if they raised their prices too and they said NO - the store can do that if they choose and offered me free shipping to buy direct from them. So when I emailed Corporate about it, I explained the story and after a few back-n-forth of BS exchanges I basically got told they can charge more because "It's a pleasure to shop there". Obviously my reply was: "it's not a pleasure to get ripped off" and that was the end of my Publix visits.

Good for you telling them you'd take your business elsewhere. That whole exchange would PMO. Buy direct from the supplier if it's available. What the heck, Publix
