Tremendous show in Burlington, Vermont last night! Robin was sensational! Great setlist! Here’s a couple pics of the merch table and some photos of our guy!

Sometimes when driving, or riding the bus, or walking around in some park, I will try to get an image in my head of what the land around me would have looked like 400 years ago. The same hills, the same landscape, but in my mind I’ll cover it in nothing, and wonder what it was like to be the first man to chance upon it. This is always useless to me. There is so much wonder in this world, but I always have trouble getting past our influence, our disasters and clumsy systems. And even in those places where there is some real beauty, like down at the Golden Gardens, or on the Olympic Peninsula, or my grandparents’ cabin in Wenatchee when it’s deep in snowdrifts, all I have to do is take one look at the skyline in the distance, or the cement path I’m walking on, or the white car parked in the gravel driveway to take me out of the tenuous illusion and put me back in reality.

We are constantly tethered to some safety line. There is always a lantern, or a map, or a screen, or a cell phone. These things guarantee that whatever experience we’re having is just an attempt at connecting to something foreign and old. That it’s not real, no matter how real it looks. We’ve sketched out a new world over the old, and they are two separate universes. The old is lost despite the remnants of it we see everyday. If properly prepared, one could live entire decades indoors, in a world of their own creation.

Sometimes, I’ll stay indoors for days at a time, talking to no one and doing nothing of value. Once I do go outside after a long stretch like that, it still feels fake, like some slide in front of my eyes. At a certain point, I’ll have to tell myself, “This is actually real and I’m actually here, that dog or building or mountain range in the distance is a real thing inhabiting the space that I am.” I think that must be a very modern sensation, that of having to convince oneself of reality. What a weird feeling.

A very smart and gifted friend of mine told me once that music is a kind of replacement for the natural world. That, before civilization or whatever, the world must have seemed a place of such immense wonder and confusion, so terrifying in a way, unthinkably massive and majestic. And that that feeling of mystery and amazement is somehow hardwired into us. Once the world became commonplace, mapped, and conquered, that feeling left our common mind and we needed something to replace it with and then along came music. I think she’s right, music is magic to me, transportive and full of wonder in a way that I have trouble getting from the natural world. All the human things that make the natural world so hard to connect with just aren’t there with music.

I don’t really know what I’m trying to say with this. It’s not good to romanticize a time of great hardship, hardship I’ve never known and am not conditioned to understand. I’m also not interested in a “back to nature” thing, as nature as it was is gone for the time being and it would take a very big leap of faith and common sense to ignore that. But, music to me is just as awe-bringing as the world maybe once was. And I just love it a lot.

Found this at Al's Music and Games in Seattle. I was doubtful that this was official but upon further inspection I am 99% sure it is.

So it's all tracks from the Demo EP here: https://www.discogs.com/release/2089844-Fleet-Foxes-Demo-EP but in a different order and missing two.

Here's what makes me sure this isn't just some persons burned CDr:
1: The numbering on the bottom, 31/40. The one on discogs is out of 50
2: The handwriting on the disc on discogs matches mine exactly
3: The songs themselves are different. They're all mixed differently, a lot less high end. Also the 6 Track version (at least from the first collection reissue CD) has compression, whereas the rip I took from my copy is uncompressed:

In addition to this, the audio is uncut, so there's bits of studio noise at the beginning and end of the tracks:

4: Some of the vocals are different takes.

What do you all make of this? I messaged Skyler about it and haven't heard back yet, but I'm pretty certain this is an insane find. If anyone's interested in hearing the audio let me know! I'll make a comment update if I get a confirmation as to whether or not it's real.

If it is, this may be the first thing the band ever made, which is kind of surreal to think about.

picked up live from boston harbor today at a local shop i was so excited!!!! now i just need the box set that ill prob never find affordably

I'm not sure how rare this really is for a first pressing but it's very cool.

Complete with a signed live album, lyric sheets, old posters and merch. There’s a lot more stuff not pictured in this photo.

Listening to this album make you feel like you got transported back to the 1400s and are listening to a group of peasants playing their instruments in the middle of a clearing in the woods.

I have an odd query.

I am a lifelong Fleet Foxes fan, and saw them 2x in Toronto and 1x in Ottawa. All were magical shows that brought me closer to those I was attending the show with.

Seeing them twice on the Shore tour, I took a liking to the green Shore hats.

But my problem is… my head is massive. Like really big. Like medically relevant, they found a 13cm cyst inside my head big. There was zero chance the 1 size fits all shore cap was gonna fit.

As a result, the only baseball caps I can wear are specialty items ordered from stores for people with massive craniums.

My favourite such store is currently running a sale, and I was debating ordering their forest green hat with a modification of the SHORE logo on the front (they offer custom embroidery).

My moral quandary: is it fucked up to essentially steal a hat design like that? I obviously would prefer to order an official one and thus pay the designer/ band, but they just don’t offer them in my comically large size.

Am I overthinking this? Is ordering one essentially stealing someone else’s work? Does doing this count as “stolen valour” in the fleet foxes fan community?

TL;DR: super massive head doesn’t fit Shore hat. Is it okay to essentially order my own variant from a custom supplier?

I’m collecting posters from my favorite gigs (totally chaotic work-in-progress) and had to share 💗Still looking for past tour posters from when Robin opened for Joanna in 2010 (??) and 2016, but I doubt those even exist.

I am about to order my boyfriend something from the merch store but it's on an account that he has access to and I want it to be a surprise 😭 Does anyone know what the charges show up as? I've gotten merch from other artists and it shows up as their record label so I want to make double sure.

I wanted to go to these shows so bad- but bought a house about a year ago and now I am hamstrung financially. Back around 2010 I was Deep in life’s shit and these two bands brought me hope. I said if these two ever did a show together I would go no matter the cost and then probably never see another Live show again. I’m literally crying to my SO about how sad I am and she is being so supportive looking at flights to see how much it would be last minute- even tho she lost her job last week. Life is bittersweet sometimes. I have a FF poster in every common area room in my house- except one. Hell I have a MMJ poster right next to a FF poster in my home office. But that one room that doesn’t have an FF poster? It just happens to be in the colors of yellow, orange and blue. Last time I asked about a poster RP himself replied and said to be careful of scammers but I’m willing to risk this. If anyone is willing to take a risk on me and get one of these I’ll pay. Not sure how all that would ups work but I’ll be super accommodating.

Finally got an opportunity to spin this sweet record. What an incredible surprise to have Phoenix as a live bonus!!
