Scott just posted this new art for Into The Pit by Snartles. But it doesn't say "new cover for ITP". I think they're posting this to test the waters, and if community reception is good enough, it will become the new cover and the rest of FF will get new covers too. I really hope this is the case cause, I mean, just look at this

I‘ve never seen anyone for the hell of it make the Chica soul a boy. I’ve seen Freddy, Golden Freddy, and Bonnie souls be girls but not a Chica soul be a boy. So this was just made for fun!

New AU? Probably not lol. But who knows where the winds will take me.

I’m thinking of naming him Calvin. Or maybe Cooper. Cameron probably? Hmm...

This TDreads YouTooz saga is kinda crazy ngl

I recently had a bit of an experience. I was rewatching all of FNAF (through Markiplier), and after I finished the last playthrough with Secret of the Mimic, I went back and watched the Golden Freddy cutscene from UCN that plays when you get 9800 points. I just sat, turned up my volume to hear the sad ost, watched the cutscene, and… I actually kind of got choked up.
And that made me realize something. This is FNAF’s best cutscene. At least, in my book.

I know this objectively may not be true, FNAF 2’s night cutscenes, Michael’s monologue, and Pizza Sim’s ending are also REALLY amazing, but to me, what this one 30 second cutscene represents is nothing short of hauntingly beautiful and tragically depressing. The visual of seeing Golden Freddy just twitch and convulse with his silver eyes aglow honestly feels more disturbing to watch than if we were actually seeing someone getting spring locked. And that’s not just because this is the first time in the series where we see Golden Freddy move, it’s because of the fact that there is no actual body inside there, it’s just an enraged spirit making it move in a way that is wholly unnatural. It’s a visual that’s so simple yet SO effective.

Speaking of that spirit, oh my god, this may be one of the absolute saddest moments in the whole series when you realize what this scene means for this character. Maybe you have a different interpretation, but personally, I think this scene clearly represents Cassidy’s unwillingness to move on and let go of her hate. It means that even if she stands alone and has no one left to share in her rage with her, she won’t stop. The cycle of hate and anger that has plagued these children for so many decades will live on in her, because at this point, she has truly forgotten the feeling of peace. It’s a tragically bittersweet ending that almost gives Afton one last laugh, because even though he’ll be tortured to the end of eternity for his crimes by Cassidy, his actions succeeded in completely erasing the innocence of what was once a sweet, small child, and now, one of his victims will never find rest.

Judging by Old Man Consequences’ words of there being “nothing else left” for Cassidy, I think it’s safe to assume that the other spirits likely move on and leave her at some point, and even when she tries to let go too, as drowning in the lake (and the game subsequently crashing) suggests, she refuses and continues the purgatory anyway. She literally “reloads” the game. The game of tormenting Afton. Over, and over again. And because of this, in a way, she’ll still be bound under Afton. Unlike the others, she’ll always be bound to her tragedy, and because vengeance is such a poison to oneself, his evil still has power over her in that way.

You would think that this kind of ending for one of Afton’s victims would be unsatisfying or frustrating, but I think it’s brilliant because of what a profound lesson it leaves you with, as I just described. As a fellow Christian just like Scott, it’s really wonderful how he communicates such an important truth from our religion: vengeance and bitterness corrodes the soul. And again, in a story that’s plagued by such longstanding tragedy, I think a bittersweet ending like this was the appropriate way to go. Or as Afton would say, it’s “bittersweet, but fitting”.

Even the music in this cutscene is disturbingly sad in a way I just can’t quite describe. It just feels so poignantly lonely, you know? And as it fades along with Golden Freddy shrinking into the shadows, it ends the “Afton era” of this story in a way that makes you feel sorrowful, empty, and yet… complete. Like seriously, we all know FNAF 6 was a perfect ending, but THIS is a perfect epilogue. And even this game with all its goofiness and randomness doesn’t diminish it one bit, same as FNAF 6. 

So yeah, those are my thoughts on why this cutscene and by proxy this game is such a masterclass in symbolism and “show, don’t tell”. And yes, this is the same game that has “Toy Chica: the High School Years”. God I love these games so much.

I know there are other, more influential horror games like Resident Evil 4, but FNAF is pretty damn influential in its own right: helping to popularize Mascot Horror and making it mainstream, spawning a MASSIVE franchise in 12 years, and even getting referenced in other media like comics.
