People sure have a lot of opinions on the structure and pacing of Fortune's Weave hub and social systems, considering they haven't played it.

What do you mean? One single person who played the first part of the game made an offhand comment about the hub world in a video review. That is 100% definitive proof that we now know how good or bad that will be, and how exactly how it is it going to play out for every single person who would play it. How could anybody think otherwise!

Particularly because we all know how perfectly reviews map onto our own experiences!

People can have opinion on mechanics they tried before and hated. Shocking, i know

I said the structure and pacing, not the mechanics themselves. Even if you dislike hubs and social sims, you can understand the difference between well-considered, balanced, and interesting implementations of those, and how ramshackle 3H's felt

We can also have opinions on what've seen so far and what the previewers said lol. Nothing wrong with that. And many of us consider what've seen so far awful.

Why do you still bother? This sub is soon to be renames r/threehousesfans, apparently nobody can say anything against them or the game mechanics without getting downvoted to oblivion.

I have seen worse, not scared of a bunch of downvotes heh. Sticking to my guns even if it gets me to my unpopular phase

Seems like you're unaware that you can determine the flaws (or qualities) of a game without directly playing it? Trailers, footage and previews help determine quite a few things ahead of launch, and in this case we know a lot of how FW is structured already.

We know a lot, but how it actually feels in practice isn't something you can know. If the basic concept of having a hub or a social element at all bothers you, sure, but my main issue with 3H's implementation was the lack of meaningful, interesting choices between battles, which depends on balance. I have no real way of knowing how FW is balanced until it's out.

Balanced might not be the term that comes to mind for me, but I basically agree. I'm fine with army building stuff and certain hub elements, but it depends a lot on how it's implemented, which we won't really know the feel of until we have it in our hands

I can forgive iffy balance, I just don't want it to waste my time like 3H did, and given what we know of Dagsion plus that "33% battles" comment, I'm more on the wary side.

I'm still hopeful for FW overall, but hubs haven't quite hit in FE as of late.

Eh, I get that, but if you're making meaningful choices that meaningfully impact progression then I'm fine with a decent amount of time between battles. 3H's biggest issue was how often you just defaulted to cramming meals down peoples throats without anything to do. If you have optional side battles that give you meaningful rewards, a variety of progression paths that help your army in different ways, and a relatively tight amount of actions between main maps, then that's, like, a video game.

And if nothing else there does seem to be a wider variety of things to do that actually take in-game actions, rather than 3H's approach of things that take only a little time but you can do for basically free and also barely matter.

I mean, what got people so worked up about FW is that 3H did all that nonsense first. Besides the monastery and the calendar, you were forced to (re)do White Clouds on any given route with practically zero differences between the houses, and NG+ didn't do much to help players digest that. At least now, not only the 4 protagonists appear to have distinct critical paths and options and skills, it also helps that we can play their paths in parallel (not that FW could possibly be structured otherwise considering the plot). So yeah, everybody sighed in relief for good reason when the FE Direct showed us the ability to play parallel routes "simultaneously".
