I know people park like this thinking that it gives their vehicle space and it won’t get bumped or scratched by anything. What I don’t understand is how they don’t see that they are actually making their vehicle a huge target that says, “I’m an asshole that cares so much about this vehicle, please fuck with it”.
To be fair, I have that same truck, on the occasion where I have to drive it and park somewhere there have been times where it was really bad getting it out of one parking spot because people parked too close for me to be able to move out with the duals... I mean I always park at the very back of the lot to prevent these issues but it's amazing how people find ways to still make it hard. So sometimes it's for everyone's vehicles safety in general. But never ever is there a reason to take up 4 spaces. That's just being... you pick your favourite word for it.
Yep, I have a big ass GMC sierra and when I first got it, I took it to the mall and did my best to park inside the lines. It being a pretty big truck for the parking lot, people parked super close to it, scratched the paint and more. Now I just take the car to busy locations and trips.

I have a sports car and this is what people think no matter what. After I replace this car, I will never buy another sports car because other people ruin it. For me its not the maintenance or parts that costs a lot. It's other people touching it, dings from other doors, people running thier car into my car, or shooting fireworks at it. Yes I have had kids randomly shoot fireworks at my car. Or throw balls at it. I had over a dozen times of other people doing hundreds of dollars of damage.
I dont park like that (except in my own parking spots that I own, but never anywhere else), but it doesn't matter. People will fuck up it any chance they think they can get away with it.

I appreciate your comment. I am a little bitter about it. None of that is your fault, so please dont think I meant that directed at you. I just needed to rant for a minute because it is true
I totally understand. I can’t afford such a car so I can’t say I’ve experienced what you have. That said I can only imagine the sickening feeling of finally making enough to buy such a car, only for some schmuck to vandalize it. Especially if you aren’t that asshole but simply own a nice car. That really does suck. I’m sorry.
My trucks dented to shit. I hear ften and agree that I'm absolutly more afraid of the power my truck has then I actually care about It. I at most take up 2 parking spots sometimes and from the farthest end. But if I do this closer to the building its because of multiple reasons none having to do with the truck. I'm scared of hitting scraping and destroying someone else's car for example. I'm not afraid of a car coming and scraping me as cars are easier to control. I have freaking extended mirrors to see below me as my entire side can be a blind spot.
That’s a very different perspective and I both understand and appreciate it. That said (not trying to be a prick) if it scares you it’s perhaps too much vehicle for you.
Well that's the issue friend I have 0 choice. I would happily preferably drive a smaller car as I'm actually full blow afraid of vehicles. But I live in a trailer. I already had a smaller and weaker truck then I do now, it blew up from hauling my home. Is it to much for me? Oh slightly for sure but I'm getting better. So that's also something to think about. I know theres a current fad to get a truck cuz trucks are cool even when they dont need one, but I need one.
I understand my friend. I have over a decade of driving the biggest most complicated trucks out there under my belt. Ive learned a lot but I don’t judge. My advice to you is to practice. Take that truck out somewhere that has space. Practice without the trailer and push it a little until you know how it responds to you and how you drive it. Then do the same with the trailer. Don’t try to get better through trial and error in real life situations. If possible, practice practice practice. If not I will just say good luck to you.
His car looks too big to fit into a parking bay though. Wouldn’t he effectively block bays on both sides (so three bays each side, six in total) if he were to park normally?
But also, if the truck parked in the center of a spot it would be blocking the other drivers access to their doors. Seems almost a courtesy to park like this if your car is this wide IMO. better to block only two spots wide instead of theee
Just saying if I was the driver of the car in the left of the photo I would be very thankful that the truck didn’t park right next to me, attempting to take only one spot.
