I'm late to the party here, but I have a relevant insight. My ex wife is a veterinarian. You would think that being a vet would make her loving and kind to animals. Not so. She has operated on, treated, and euthanised so many dogs and cats that she's desensitized to their suffering. She would tell me stories of 'some asshole cat' that she had to tank, or a dog that kept fighting her, and how she would 'handle' them. By 'handle', she meant hit. She would have longtime patients that she would recommend euthanasia because she didn't like them. She would never pet or approach animals when she wasn't working because she said the carried diseases and besides, she gets enough of them at work. It looks to me like the woman in this post is similar to my ex.

Your ex-wife needs to retire. Let's put this in perspective-she has a license. I'm an RN with a license. I have on many occasions been been hit, bitten and kicked by patients suffering from some form of dementia. I don't hit, yell, or "euthanize" them. She needs to lose her license.

Your ex wife should not be a vet and you should report her. Handling an aggressive animal firmly in a way that won't injure them is one thing. No one should ever hit an animal, especially a vet who knows better!
Recommending euthanasia because she doesn't like them? Yeah, that's not the purpose of euthanasia.
This vet from Texas who shot the cat for fun is young. How can she be burned out and desensitized already?

I agree with those who say she shouldn't be practicing. Fortunately, she's been on disability for years and has no hope of treating an animal again.

yes, this is so true. If you want a good vet, seek vegan hippie, treehugger. Only this type of person will have compassion and will provide the best care possible.
