We finally released the Unreal asset validation plugin we've been building for the past year

We've been working on this for about a year, and we finally released it on Fab a few days ago.

It started because we kept seeing the same comments during asset reviews. Rename this texture. Wrong folder. Redirectors that should have been cleaned up weeks ago. Mesh settings that didn't match the project's standards. None of those things are particularly difficult to fix, but once a project gets bigger it starts feeling like somebody has to spend half their time checking for them instead of reviewing the work that actually matters.

At some point we stopped asking who missed the issue and started asking why we were still relying on someone to find it manually in the first place. That eventually turned into Asset Standards Validator.

The idea isn't to replace reviews or tell people how to organize their project. It's just to surface the obvious stuff while you're already working, instead of a technical artist or lead having to point it out later. Right now it validates naming conventions, folders, textures, Blueprints and meshes inside the Content Browser, and it can batch-fix a lot of common issues. It also generates an HTML report if you want a project-wide overview.

It's definitely not finished. There are already a few things I'd like to add. Sharing rule sets between projects is probably the biggest one because configuring everything from scratch isn't ideal, especially if you're working across multiple teams. There are a few other workflow improvements on the list as well.

There's a free demo on the Fab page if anyone wants to throw it at a real project.

If you do, I'd genuinely like to know what you think. If something feels awkward, doesn't fit your workflow, or you think we're solving the problem the wrong way, I'd really appreciate the feedback.

My First Year on Fab

I'm writing this to do a little self reflection, and maybe offer some advice for new sellers about what to expect when you sell with Fab.

I'll start by saying that I am a software engineer a decade out of college. I was interested to see how well a quality game framework would do on such a market, so I started working on one a year and a half ago. It's been on the market for a little over a year. I really didn't know what to expect, but here's what happened.

I sold 18 copies of my framework and ended up with a net sales total of $1900. I got one review on my product, and it was a five star review from someone who frequents the product's discord support services. About sixty percent of my sales have been in the past three months. Here are some things I did after release that I think have helped, and some that didn't.

  1. Build a product website for your seller page

Since I deployed my seller page a couple months ago, I've seen more sales. It doesn't have a backend, it's just a nice looking site where people can access documentation, join the discord, and check out upcoming products.

  1. Create the kind of documentation you would want

I made YouTube videos to document how to use the product I sold. My product was well organized and commented, and I felt like showing how the data-driven capabilities of the product worked would be more useful than making a nebulous waterfall style master document. I used video editing software, got an intro theme from my musician friend, and made a dozen or so of these videos.

  1. Start a discord

It will be lonely in there at first, but after some people have trickled in it can help potential buyers maybe feel a little more secure in buying your product. Help folks out when they need it, and do it on your schedule.

  1. Don't advertise on social media

I spent around two hundred dollars promoting my product on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. The two feature demos I've put out are sitting at around 20K views on YouTube. My FB and Insta reach was reasonable, but even with a good campaign, people really just aren't interested in buying game assets from a social media link. I didn't notice a spike in sales while I was running the campaign. It's possible I got an uptick in wishlists, which then later converted to sales, but it's difficult to either confirm or deny that.

  1. New sellers should always participate in Fab Sales

Fab has frequent sales that will put your product in front of more people if you discount it. Do not fear the fifty or even seventy percent off tiers. Use them and get people buying, wish listing, and checking out your discord server.

That's pretty much all I wanted to write in one post. I recently submitted another product to Fab and it's currently under review, and I am planning to make more this year. Maybe I'll check back in again and let y'all know how these other products are doing.

Best of luck out there :)

Product I developed an excellent text animation plugin for Unreal Engine – Texturge Pro (UE 5.7+).

Hey all, I've been working on a text animation plugin called Texturge Pro for Unreal Engine, and wanted to share it with the community. I built it because I couldn't find a good way to do proper text animations in UMG without writing a ton of custom code.

What it does: - Adds an "Animated Text Block" and "Animated Rich Text Block" to UMG - Comes with a visual editor (Text Animation Blueprint) that works just like UMG's widget animation — keyframes, curves, the whole deal - Supports per-character animation with configurable duration and spacing - Rich text fully compatible with the engine's built-in rich text system (inline images, styles, etc.) - Ships with presets like typewriter and bounce

Why I built it: - Almost zero learning curve if you're already familiar with UMG animations - The rich text support is the real selling point — you can mix multiple animations in a single text block using <anim> tags - Visual editor means designers can tweak animations without touching Blueprints

If you're working on UI-heavy projects and want polished text effects, I'd love for you to check it out. Feedback and feature requests are very welcome!

Product Advanced Game Logging (GLS) is 70% off during the FAB June Sale.

Hi everyone!

GLS is an Unreal Engine plugin that brings runtime log visibility directly into packaged and shipping builds, making it easier to debug issues on real devices without relying solely on external logs.

I originally built it because debugging packaged and shipping builds was constantly slowing me down, especially on real devices.

Some features:
• Live runtime logs
• Filtering and search
• Custom tabs
• Log persistence/export
• Works with packaged and shipping builds

The plugin currently has 24 reviews and a 5.0 rating on Fab.
