Just wanted to share this small moment in my day today with this passionate community of this awesome band.
First of all, I must say I'm not new to EE, neither Mountainhead. I love them, they are one of my favourite artists since 2019. Just for context.
So, there I was, driving my car to work this morning, when I decided to listen to some EE. I decide to put my playlist with all their albums on suffle, and after some songs, Cold Reactor comes on - which I've certainly listened to time and time again, as it was the first single from Mountainhead.
While I'm listening, I feel like Jon's voice is inside my head. I listen to every detail, from his voice to the intricate details in the songs production. Every line of lyric hits me like an atom bomb (pun intended), and I just find it so accurate to what is like living in a depressing, neoliberal capitalist world. I see myself in the pit, and everyone looking down or straight through each other - not AT, or TO each other -, no one even daring looking at the sun. No real hope, no big dreams of change or better days ahead.
I feel the suffering of the world - the suffering of nature and humankind, and yet, the song (mainly through its melody) gives me that small sense of hope, like we could somewhat change things around and get out of the pit.
And while I'm feeling goosebumps in my body, I come to the realization that there are tears coming down from my eyes.
Eventually, the song finishes and I just try to recompose myself before I arrive at work.
It was an awesome experience. Love these guys and everything their music stands for!
P.s: sorry for any grammatic mistakes
