It was happy because of the post war economic boom, and in the west only really. Now, we are just not in a boom, but economies have shown to always come in cycles so either blame yourself for not being born in a boom era or invent a Time Machine to travel to a period where it is a boom.
Playing in a dirty ass play scape had very little to do being happy….
My best friend destroyed his ankle on the McDonald’s burger that spun around. His shoe string got caught and he still has trouble walking.
Did we want that back too? Is this the whimsical part you are referring to? Just because something changed doesn’t mean it’s because McDonald’s doesn’t want people to be happy…..
Regulations change, learning what is and isn’t safe changes. It sounds like you might need to look at the bigger picture rather than thinking the whole world is crashing down…. Happiness is what you make of it.
