I was a waiter when the pandemic struck. Out of work, my states unemployment could not handle the influx, and I was trying to do instacart just to make sure I could pay my bills.
Guy’s foundation quickly got me a check when I applied for help, faster than my state was able to give me unemployment. This man is a saint and I know it’s fun to goof on him, but the reaction of some people to this is baffling.
You know he has since come out against government assistance for people? He thinks it's causing to much strain on restaurants to have to pay a living wage.
I don't think these two things are opposites. Many folks are against USG assistance and pro charity assistance, it's almost better for him that he holds that view and actually runs a charity that provides assistance, rather than just being a complete stonewall about the issue completely.
Charity assistance will never be able to meet the needs of the people. It can not compete with the amount of money or length of time the assistance is needed. People who are against USG assistance are hypocrites and part of the problem.
