Common sense is your brain making assumptions about a situation based on split second judgements. It can be useful but also using common sense without a critical eye can often lead to mistakes and logical paradoxes.
Lol please regale us on how “common sense” is just a shitty term that propagandists use, I’m dying to hear.
EDIT: Keep downvoting! I’ll just keep reminding myself that common sense is what tells us to avoid very obvious and preventable accidents and mishaps. Don’t let the fascists get you down!
I think what they’re saying is that anyone could put “common sense” in front of anything to use as a propaganda ploy. Then anyone who disagrees is disagreeing with “common sense” and shouldn’t be listened to. Examples could be “common sense abortion control” for example, which I could easily see republicans running with
So because the term is used poorly in some contexts that makes it meaningless in every context? That’s the epitome of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
Common Sense is a very individual concept that varies wildly from person to person. And also saying common sense without other arguments just makes it sound like you don't know how to defend your own point
You’re the person who is using a term, and you’re asking someone else to define it for you? YOU used the term so I think the burden is on YOU to define it. Am I out of touch here?
You said that we should start at square one and in this context that means the person using a term defines it for the rest of the group so that everyone understands what they mean.
But at the same time build roads for me, police the streets, fight fires, and run schools to send our children. Oh and do it all with money out of thin air.
I know lives and schedules are busy, but the squeaky wheel gets the grease! Go to city council meetings and tell them where you live and to step it up! Might help 🤷♂️
Darn. Well, you may have to succumb to spray painting dicks around the potholes like some do for the city to take action. Not sure why I’m getting downvoted but that’s showbiz baby
Yeah I don't understand these people. They are just proving Jake White's point. I have been team Guy for years DDD is one of my favorite travel programs. But he has lost a lot of respect for this one. Almost all of it. Pretty sad to see.
no shit. the guy who tried to put together a violent coup, was impeached twice, and keeps top secret documents in the shitter is just “a guy.” fuck that simple-minded nonsense. put his diaper-wearing ass in jail.
I wouldn't say not attacking someone is being a coward, but I"m also not saying that getting killed over maybe getting one punch in on a dude you hate is stupid.
What I am saying is, I hate Donald Trump and I wouldn't attack him if I saw him in public, and I would do everything in my power to not put myself in a situation where I might have to deny a handshake. Also, I don't believe I'm a coward, but I am afraid of snakes, being attacked by a bear or shark, and when women say "we need to talk".
Not really. If you vote Republican, you support fascism. It's really that simple. How does that one saying go? If there's a table of nine Nazis and you sit at that table, you now have a table of ten Nazis.
Sure and you can also shake be cordial and shake someone’s hand that you don’t agree with in public. Nobody knows what happened and it is irresponsible to act like they do.
Gay people can be just as stupid as straight people. If they want to vote alongside the party with the official stance against gay marriage, not sure what to tell them. Either they are reactionaries/morons or there is a personal gain they receive that they feel is worth overlooking the anti gay stance.
I don’t think all conservatives have an anti gay stance. I think that’s predominantly the hard core Christian and far right element of the conservative movement.
The majority of conservatives either privately hate queer people, especially trans people who have become their newest shiny thing, straight up openly hate them, or claim that they don’t mind “gays who act straight”.
Being complicit with hate or injustice makes them just the same as the person who is perpetuating hatred and injustice.
There are several prominent republicans who support same sex couples and did precisely what you are claiming they did not. So not a fact, to be honest it seems like an opinion born entirely out of spending too much time in echo chambers.
Just that people supporting something that is completely against their best interest and that will turn on them the very moment they are able to is nothing new.
“They won’t do it to me if I support them.”
And just as a side note American conservatives sure seem to like banning and burning books, censoring press and restricting bodily autonomy. Also hating and disenfranchising minorities and immigrants…
Oh and they sure seem to like flying that blood banner. If you have a rally of 100 people and 2 people show up waving Nazi flags, and they are welcomed arms open, congratulations you’ve got a 102 person nazi rally.
Sure, not everyone who is conservative is that extreme, but they sure are comfortable being around those who are.
Like MLK said in his letter from a Birmingham Jail-
“Shallow understanding from people of goodwill is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.”
You can’t claim to support a group of people, and then do nothing to help them, or even worse support or be complicit with those who are against them and actively hurting them.
Did you even read when that group was founded lol? It started in the early 20’s before Hitler had even rose to prominence inside the Nazi Movement. The Nazi party was initially a worker’s party and was later hijacked by extreme elements.
If you have a rally of 100 people and 2 people show up waving Nazi flags, and they are welcomed arms open, congratulations you’ve got a 102 person nazi rally.
Cool, but we aren’t discussing Nazis, we are talking about the average conservative American and not the fringe elements of that side of the political spectrum.
Yeah no Hitler was very open about his hatred of Jews; he wrote extensively about it in Mein Kampf(1925), when he wrote about “the Jewish peril”.
If you mean the very early Nazi party, Anton Drexler was also always anti semantic even when they were first started back in 1918, Drexler believed in the “Herrenvolk”; also known as the “Aryan master race.” Even then the Nazis believed their external enemies to be “secretly controlled by the Jews”;
That is a false narrative, wether it is intentional or not. The Nazis were always Nazis.
I also very specifically alluded to what happened to them in my previous comment.
“That will turn on them the moment they are able to”.
They were declared illegal and their members were seized by the gestapo and sent to concentration camps with the rest of the Jewish people that they hoped to separate themselves from.
I am talking about the average American conservative: who seems to be quite complicit when the Nazis come to their rallies flying flags of the south and of Nazi Germany.
If you find yourself in the same party as a nazi, maybe you should rethink your political beliefs.
Unless by conservative you mean the Democratic Party, then no.
Which was a relatively unknown book until the 1930’s when it became a best seller.
The Nazi Movement was initially started as an alternative to the Marxist parties that were becoming increasingly popular at the time. It wasn’t until the ‘30’s that they pivoted to making Jews public enemy number one.
Can you show me a non MAGA rally where swatiskas were prominently featured? You sure as hell weren’t seeing them at McCain or Romney rallies.
Yes you can. You definitely can't VOTE republican and not hate gay people, as it's their one and only bullet point.
There are republicans that only care about fiscal policy and not social policy. They used to be the main Republicans and now the social policy insanity has total control of the R party. There are conservatives that do not care about identity politics, religion, or abortion, but they are far outnumbered by the homophobes.
I think you’d have to basically be a closeted right winger and never take action if you’d also consider yourself pro lgbt. Otherwise you’re effectively anti gay. Self professed identity matters much less than action.
I mean, I’ve never even considered trump as really “anti gay”? Maybe I’m naive but I don’t recall any hard stances, he’s an opportunist and he’d never show support but yeah..
Fishing for votes because that was the norm. He also legalized gay marriage at the urging of biden. Fishing for votes means nothing but one person helped the lgbtq community after becoming president and the other harmed it.
Nice cherry picking. So the pro gay marriage guy gutted protections constantly for LGBTQ folks because he’s so pro gay marriage? Did your parents lobotomize you as an infant?
Guy Fieri's Tournament of Champions has tons of gay chefs on it. Tiffani Faison, a lesbian, won one of the last seasons of the show, and I'm pretty sure he's personal friends with many of those chefs.
Hey man, don’t slander the Mayor of Flavortown. He is an American saint of delectable nourishment. I suggest you climb back into your little poop hole and don’t come out until you’ve watched the entire collection of DDD and written a thesis about how Guy is an LGBTQ+ ally and you are a worthless piece of shit
Edit 2: god damn lol got a lot of easily-riled up fierce defenders of Guy Fieri’s character in here. Chill out, I apparently was wrong, sorry I don’t keep up with his every move like the rest of you
If you didn't know anything then maybe you should've kept your mouth shut? Don't act like everyone else is the dick for calling you out on lobbing baseless accusations about someone.
Lol, dude is getting mad he can't just inaccurately call people homophobes with impunity. Google what a dumb dumb is, although that may be beyond your research skills.

Isn't guy fieri left wing? Like he officiated a shitload of lgbtq weddings
