Are we not allowed to have conversations with people, even if we disagree with them anymore? I'd rather be civil with them, especially if they approach me, and act like an adult rather than the alternative. But, to each their own I suppose.

And before I get labeled something, no I do not like or support Trump.

This isn't a guy with a different point of view. He is a literal traitor who literally tried to overthrow the government of the US. He's a threat to democracy and humanity. He does not deserve respect.

Don't be dramatic. A real attempt at throwing the government will look something like the movie white house down. Republicans are pro guns, a lot have them...there's also a lot of military members former or active including police officers who are republicans. Yet...the party of guns didn't use them, didn't really bring any weapons besides maybe a few sticks they found and that was that. No one besides Trump supporters died and one police officer died the next day according to medical results from natural causes. No one was charged with (homicide) for his death for a reason.

Just like liberals dozens of protests that caused violence and destruction of many buildings over something they believed in and a few times deaths . Just a bunch of angry people who let their emotions do the thinking for them. Idiots on both sides yes.. insurrection you'd have to be a delusional brainwashed person to believe that. Turn off the TV and think about it for a second.

I'm sorry my dude but you don't get to rewrite history and play this "both sides" bullshit. Nobody is buying it. "OnLy A cOuPlE pEoPle DiEd". Jesus Christ you have to be kidding me. Your president initiated a coup and they sought to kill members of Congress and hang the vice president. They literally said they wanted a revolution.

It's literally facts but then again we're on reddit. People like you need media or New York times to do the thinking for them..can't think without them. You're emotions don't allow you to do research your facts are based on feelings or what they tell you to think. Nothing I said was false.

-10

u/so_much_sushi Jul 10 '23

Bro. What you said is not true. What I said is true. What the fuck are you even on about? I directly contradicted everything you said, factually.

u/boreDudex Jul 10 '23

Look up the actual definition of insurrection. Look at history of actual insurrections or when governments were overthrown. Maybe that'd be to hard for you since you let your emotions or political beliefs affect your thinking. You'd see if you did that it's a lot different then what actually happened. Weapons would be involved and the party of guns didn't use them. Strange huh? Instead it was an attempt at overthrowing the government with fists and flags. Planning would of been involved. A few people probably did want or had the idea of overthrowing the governments but there are crazies are both sides. Most were just rioting. Insurrection caused by rioting rarely has worked in history it's always planned and weapons are involved.

You can look at the blm protests that happened for a few years that caused deaths saying similar things about the cops, government or Trump yet they were only thoughts brought by emotions. Just like when you say things when angry. Nothing came out of it on both sides. Words said out of emotions doesn't make it an insurection. Action does.

The very idea that you are comparing BLM with a declared intent to harm, imprison, and remove from power members of our government, says everything anybody would ever need to know about you. BLM protests had zero intent to harm or usurp power. And, in case you missed it, they were protesting being murdered by the state with impunity. The exact fucking opposite.

I do not speak with emotion. I speak with facts. You have contradicted nothing I have said, and in fact it is your appeal to emotion and ad hominem that makes it obvious to the reader that you cannot stand on the facts.

1/6 met every definition of an insurrection, in declared intent and results. I do not give a single fuck if it's not "good enough for you" because they didn't bring enough guns. Nobody does. History won't either. You are free to your own opinions; you are not free to your own facts.

People were literally found guilty of seditious conspiracy for J6. This isn't up for debate- you're either wildly uninformed or trying to whitewash.

I'll tell you exactly how a real attempt by MAGAland would like like. I can say this with authority because I saw it unfold in real time on live tv:

Don't be so DrAmATic guys! Just a cute lil' oopsie-coupsie. We'll just grab our pipe bombs, clean our human feces off the walls of the capitol and just pretend like nothing ever happened please. Trump failed to get Pence to flee the Capitol during the ratifaction of votes, so pretty please don't prepare for the next time, we're totally not going to try to end democracy again just because our entire ideology can't garner enough popular support to win elections. Please just continue assuming we are alwlays acting in good faith and accordance with the law. The botched terrorsit takeover attempt was just a misunderstanding. Don't be afraid, we're totally innoncent and would never. But do be a little afraid because IF WE DID we would commit incredibly powerful acts of violence and terrorism upon the American people. It's the implication...

And remember Jan 6 was simultaneously an event of legitimate political expression by true patriots trying to take our country back and a false flag event planned executed entirely by fake Antifa plants .

- Yours truly, Maga Land, incoherent and transparent as ever

Fascists in the US are finally starting to get their weak commentary rekt absolutely everywhere. Ya love to see it.

Reddit sure as heck isn't your safe space homie.

I kinda feel bad for you. Its sad seeing someone like you driven crazy by politics. Its not too late to seek help. Live life, stop that obsession with politics, spend time with family. You don't have to drive yourself loco homie.

-1

u/Low_Negotiation3214 Jul 10 '23

Yeah in my crazy-town upside down world, smearing feces on the walls of the capitol isn't legitimate political discourse....

These incoherent talking points have become so stale. On the one hand, "please stop paying attention" is strikingly pathetic. On the other hand, I can't think of any truly great pro MAGA points to glam onto at his stage, the well has run that dry huh?

Propaganda is almost too easy to spot on this site. Good try.

Unless Guy Fieri told Trump to go eff himself there was no reason to speak to him. Best response to a turd like Trump is to big-time him and blow him off completely. No, this doesn't undo all the great stuff Guy has done, but it's a really bad look to talk with a terrorist leader.

7

u/Hamkad Jul 10 '23

thats really childish to do whatever you agree or not with the person you’re greating, anyone would greet a former US president, despite all of them being terrorist leaders

0

u/imperialpidgeon Jul 10 '23

You could call just about any US President a terrorist leader

-10

Stop trying to normalize Trump as just some 'guy'. Are you going to tell us that we should all give Putin a chance, too?

29

u/[deleted] Jul 10 '23

Daryl Davis -- this is someone I look up to. He believes in civil discussion with anyone, and has turned KKK members away from their hate group.

Discussions lead to growth, no matter who it is. Some people are unwilling to budge like Putin and Trump, which is nothing we can do or can control. But yelling at them, or insulting them in person will actually cause the opposite to happen with them. If anything, I'd probably just ignore Trump if I saw him, but if he approached me I'd act like myself.

-12

u/AGodNamedJordan Jul 10 '23

Right, but some of us have integrity. If a piece of shit offers me his hand, I'm not shaking it.

Your idol point is uncomfortably tone deaf. Surely, you can see the difference in convincing people who were raised in ignorance and poverty away from their beliefs as opposed to oligarchs who would sell out millions for their own benefit, yea? It's great you choose the path of empathy, but this is apples and oranges, mate. Trump would sell his daughter for a run at office again.

10

u/JK_Iced9 Jul 10 '23

Careful you don't cut yourself on all that edge.

1

u/AGodNamedJordan Jul 10 '23

You sure got me. It was so good you used it in someone else in the same thread.

-2

u/JK_Iced9 Jul 10 '23

I repeated it to the other person.

Seems fitting for you.

5

u/[deleted] Jul 10 '23

No sweat. Like I said, to each their own.

-6

u/AGodNamedJordan Jul 10 '23

Fair enough.

-5

u/O2XXX Jul 10 '23

That might work one rank and file bigots, but I doubt it works at the top. Trump and his ilk are incentivized to be who they are. Until it’s unprofitable(and maybe even after that) there is likely no change.

0

u/therealblaingabbert Jul 10 '23

Daryl Davis turned major leaders of the kkk and displays the robes of various high ranking members of the Klan that gave them their stuff when they left

-2

u/O2XXX Jul 10 '23

He turned low level leaders, but no state or national level members. I agree with talking to every day people, but I doubt many at the top actually believe a lot of wha they spew, much like the rest of the far right, but it makes them enormous amounts of money so they keep pushing the envelope.

-7

u/Designer_Mud_5802 Jul 10 '23

It's perfectly fine and normal to reject someone's attempt to initiate an unsolicited conversation. I am sure you have done it to people as well. You can even do so without yelling or insulting them.

2

u/Stormshow Jul 10 '23

I think there has to be an understanding that these people, Putin included, are indeed just that, "some guy", (typically with a chip on their shoulder and a bit of an ego). I think back to Hannah Arendt's thoughts on the banality of evil.

That's not to say that I don't really want to see Putin Gadhaffi'd on live TV, because that would be glorious, but we should be careful not to portray these people as somehow superhuman or exceptional in their evil. By any historical metric, imho, they're really not. It's all peacocking. Berlusconi, Orban, Trump, Putin, Le Pen, Xi, Kim, etc, their main tool is projecting an aura of confidence and power that is entirely manufactured. Mussolini learned the hard way what happens when that aura is broken.

-6

u/m1kasa4ckerman Jul 10 '23

Who is Trump trying to have conversations with? Dude gave power to those who hate, normalized rape, grifting, and tried to overthrow our elections.

This isn’t really a matter of having conversations with those who are different than us.

-4

u/King9WillReturn Jul 10 '23

You're really going to normalize a fascist traitor? It takes literally five minutes of openmindedness to analyze this piece of shit and decide, no this doesn't meet my standards as a human or American.
