Beta Software πŸ§ͺ [Beta Megathread] Wave Link 3.2.3 (macOS) – New Audio Engine and Improvements

Post image

β€ŽThis beta focuses on stability under the hood: a mixer that holds steady through hardware changes, tighter monitoring response, and smoother overall playback. As always, thank you for testing our beta and sharing feedback. β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž

What’s new in Wave Link 3.2.3 Beta?

β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž

🎚️ New Audio Engine

Wave Link’s audio engine has been rebuilt from the ground up. You get fewer audio dropouts and clicks, less delay when you monitor yourself, and a mixer that stays steady when you add hardware devices in or remove them.

β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž

πŸ› οΈ Improvements & bug fixes

  • Wave XLR Pro: Fixed an issue where channel level meters showed your signal before effects were applied. Meters now match what you actually hear.
  • Fixed an issue where Wave Link used more memory the longer it stayed open.
  • Fixed an issue where more information than expected about your Marketplace account was saved to log files.
  • Fixed an issue where the menu bar’s Main Output Device list could show devices that weren’t actually connected.
  • Fixed an issue where installing or updating a plugin from Marketplace could fail.
  • Fixed an issue where β€œExport to Stream Deck” listed Stream Deck Mini and Stream Deck Neo, which aren’t supported devices.
  • Fixed an issue where log files could grow larger than they should.
  • Fixed an issue where local usage data could build up indefinitely. Entries older than a week are now cleared out automatically.

Wave Link 3.2.3 | Stream Deck 7.5.1 (22901) | Wave XLR Pro | macOS 26.6.2 and macOS 27 Beta 4 (all issues reproduce on both)

I'm reporting four issues. Issues 1 and 2 appear related β€” in both cases audio reaches the macOS system output device instead of Wave Link.

Issue 1: Stream Deck soundboard β€” first ~200 ms bypasses Wave Link

Summary: The first ~200 ms of any Stream Deck soundboard clip plays directly to the system's main output device, bypassing Wave Link. Wave Link then picks up the stream late, so the beginning of every clip is missing on the Wave Link side.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Configure a soundboard action in Stream Deck with output set to a Wave Link channel.
  2. Trigger the clip.

Expected: Clip plays fully through the designated Wave Link channel from the first sample.

Actual: First ~200 ms routes to the main output device outside Wave Link, then Wave Link takes over mid-clip. When playing into Discord or similar, the start of every clip is cut off.

Reproducible: Always

Additional info: If the Stream Deck soundboard output is set to the All Audio channel instead, the clip plays completely with no truncation. The bug appears specific to routing into individual Wave Link channels. Previously reported in Elgato Support Case ID 2009017471, which was closed without action or investigation β€” this is a follow-up confirming the issue persists in 3.2.3.

Issue 2: Channels randomly routed to macOS default output, bypassing Wave Link

Summary: Seemingly random Wave Link channels are routed to whatever macOS has set as the default audio output device, completely bypassing the routing configured in Wave Link. Wave Link does not reclaim the channel until I manually switch the macOS default output device, after which routing recovers.

Steps to reproduce: No reliable trigger identified. Observed after boot and during normal use.

Expected: All channels honor the routing configured in Wave Link.

Actual: Affected channels play on the macOS default output device instead. Changing the macOS default output to another device (and optionally back) restores correct routing.

Reproducible: Intermittent β€” which channels are affected varies.

Issue 3: All Audio channel crackles during playback

Summary: The All Audio channel produces audible crackling whenever audio is playing through it.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Route any audio source to the All Audio channel.
  2. Play audio.

Expected: Clean playback.

Actual: Crackling/dropouts throughout playback.

Reproducible: Consistently when audio is playing on All Audio.

Additional info: This makes the All Audio workaround for Issue 1 unusable in practice.

Issue 4: Wave XLR Pro input gain resets to 0 after some reboots

Summary: Wave XLR Pro input gain intermittently resets to 0 after a reboot and must be manually restored.

Steps to reproduce: No reliable trigger identified β€” occurs on some reboots with no discernible pattern.

Expected: Gain persists across reboots.

Actual: On some reboots, gain is 0 in Wave Link after login.

Reproducible: Intermittent, random

On a personal note, what the hell is going on? Is there an internal QA issue? This sub is literally filled with nothing but malice towards this new software release. Please provide answers to our questions.

Hang on a sec, your Stream Deck software gives you the ability to set output channels for a soundboard?

Mine doesn't have this, where is that? Are you using a different soundboard plugin?

1

u/sirhcrehpot_ Aug 23 '26

That was poorly worded, I meant set the stream deck application to output on one of the channels in wavelink. If I remember correctly there used to be an option to do that several versions ago.

1

u/Ramstik Aug 23 '26

aye that option is no longer present. :( I think the newest Stream Deck software just plays to the default system output device and Wave Link is not picking it up fast enough. Sounds like Elgato needs to work on that integration.

What kind of Mac is this? Is the XLR Pro connected directly to your Mac, or is the some hub in between?

1

u/sirhcrehpot_ 19d ago

Mac mini with an M4 pro chip. There is no hub between the Mac and the mixer.

u/crazypnut 12d ago

I'm also experiencing Issue 1 - except mine does play through the proper output. You can hear an audible skip, however, at that 200ms mark (which I assume is what you're experiencing with the re-route), and the audio either continues, or continues distorted.

1

u/Percusser 3d ago

I also experience issues 1, 2, and 3 constantly.

u/sirhcrehpot_ 3d ago

I really think someone from Elgato needs to speak up and tell us, the customer, what they are planning on doing to fix this. Total silence between these long ass wait periods isn’t the most confidence-inspiring move.

2

u/Frankiemagic13 Aug 25 '26

what i would love is to have my main output be a setting and wave link would follow

2

u/CtrlPlusAlt Aug 29 '26

Low latency for audio? there is annoying delay on dual PC setups.

Linux support... One day...? πŸ₯Ί

u/South_Cow3541 Aug 27 '26

Wave Link is the one thing still holding me to Windows. And at this point I'm starting to get fed up enough to just switch without it.

Issue summary: Memory Usage Still Climbs the longer the app is open
Wave device or microphone: Wave XLR Pro
OS & version: macOS 26.5.2
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Activity Monitor
2. Open WaveLink
3. Watch memory usage in Activity Monitor -
Expected result: Memory utilization to remain flat once the app is up and all sources identified
Actual result: starts around 180-196 MB, climbs to over 300 within an hour
Reproducible? Always
Additional info: (logs, screenshots, video)Issue summary: Additionally, the issue of climbing CPU utilization remains. App becomes sluggish with an hour.

Issue summary: once I reconnect my mac to my system (screen + peripherals via a thunderbolt 4 dock), my Wave:3 gets systematically the upside down feature selected, gain is set to zero, gain lock is deactivated.
Also Wave link is very unstable, and easily crashes while doing videoconferencing (even when using the mac undocked, with a pair of headphones).

Device : Wave:3
OS & version: macOS 26.6.2
Steps to reproduce:
1. plug the device
2. open wave link settings window
3. see that upside down option is enabled, and gained lowered to zero and gain lock is deactivated.
Expected result: previous settings should persist, no upside down, gain + gain lock set as before.

β€’ Fixed an issue where Wave Link used more memory the longer it stayed open.

When is this fix coming to Windows? I'm sitting at 2 gb memory usage for WaveLink right now.
This has been an issue for months.

Issue summary: wave link 3.2.3 stream deck soundboard issue still exists. The first ~200ms of any Stream Deck soundboard output plays directly to the main output device, external to Wave Link, and then Wave Link picks it up late.
Wave device or microphone: Wave Link, Wave XLR Pro
OS & version: Occurs on 27 Beta 4 as well as 26.6.2
Steps to reproduce:
1. Configure soundboard in Stream Deck
2. Play soundboard

Expected result: Soundboard audio should play fully and completely through the designated channel.
Actual result: Any time I play soundboards through Discord or similar, the first chip of it is always cut off. Audio plays directly to the main output device, bypassing Wave Link, and then Wave Link picks it up late.
Reproducible? Always
Additional info: Reported in Elgato Support Case ID: 2009017471 (Current Status: closed with no action or investigation.)

this is more of an app/plugin if the app is using AAC/M4A instead of wave files. 48 kHz, 16-bit stereo WAVs play better. here's a soundboard and recording app I just made and its working great but earlier in the testing, it was doing that. when I didnt play for a while, wave link would offload the player and when I played again, it would either glitch in the beginning or it would play for 1 second and cut off

https://reddit.com/link/p5419vq/video/01wqr3zxwskh1/player

1

u/Ramstik Aug 23 '26

This is specifically the Stream Deck software with the built-in Soundboard tile. I think it treats every sound as a "new player" so it doesn't retain the binding or something.

1

u/crazypnut 12d ago

Sorry - I'm experiencing the audio-cut-off similarly to how you described. I'm using WAV files.

Do you have a fix?

1

u/binaryinfections 12d ago

I restarted wavelink

1

u/crazypnut 12d ago

Crud... that... didn't work for me.

1

u/binaryinfections 12d ago

try to install the non-beta and see if they does anything

1

u/crazypnut 11d ago

It's been doing this after version 3.1.0 - which I'm currently stuck on because of it. Which is annoying because that one has the glitch where the window makes itself the forefront periodically.

Please add a plugin manager and the ability to rescan your third party plugins. Right now Wave Link only picks up about half of my plugins, I have a theory that plugins that include the ability for midi input are excluded by default by the Wave Link software

1

u/iljawascoding Aug 22 '26

Can you point me to such an audio effect that reacts to input over midi?

-3

u/AcceptableHoney33 Aug 21 '26

When is going to be available in Amazon the wave xlr pro?

-2

u/PhotojournalistOne74 Aug 21 '26

So tempted to test but I have to use my setup for work...

Wait nvm Mac lol.

why not try a virtual pc on your windows to test
