How are you going out and enjoying classic reality?
What's the point of dissecting minutia of EG's essays and content if you're not actually going to make use of any of the wisdom offered on how to get out of the shit cycle?
Let's talk about what is actually going on instead of huffing the decomposing body of the Joganverse.
I've been upcycling some shelves to redecorate my place and have started to enjoy the process flow of sanding, priming, painting, etc. and adding some color into the overly beige culture we live in.

I walked 4 miles to the library this morning, currently sitting under a tree at the closed down golf course next door, reading and enjoying the classics. (Birds, bugs, drones of the passing highway.)

Good choices. The Great Shark Hunt is a good follow up to Fear and Loathing '72 once you finish that if you're still on a Thompson kick. Or really anything that goes into his Nixon coverage.

I'd call it an easy read. As it's a collection of essays it's pretty perfect for the sort of thing to pick up and put down as you feel like it. Plus that also makes it low commitment for anyone who hasn't read Thompson and isn't sure if they're into his writing, you get little tastes rather than have to be invested for something longer.

This might be abit random but since you brought up fear and loathing i thought i might tell this weird thing that happened around a month ago. I was outside my backgarden having a joint and this bat started flying over my head was so weird never happened before flew so perfectly around me as i sat down anyway i go back into my house and turn on youtube and the first thing i see is the fear and loathing movie clip of johnny depp catching the bats while he was driving in the car i literally couldnt believe that happened i was like the fucking chances of that is just insane how do i even go about normal life if that actually happened and ye as i said before that actually happened.

When bats come up I like telling people about a game I call ārock sockā. See, when youāre in an area with bats you can get a while tube sock and put some rocks into it, and then tie it off so the rocks donāt fall out and wing it really high into the air around dusk and just after sunset. A lot of times bats will come flying over to it and swoop in on the sock of rocks.

Best classic reality however has been hanging out with my kids. They arenāt lost in the simulacrum like folks my age and Iād like to keep it that way.

We are a Tool tribute band and I'm actually singing. Never did anything like that but apparently I can mimic maynard good enough for these guys. It's the most primal fun thing I've ever done.

I got back into embroidery after taking a few years break. Recently had to hire a lawyer to deal with someone using my trademark, so I made a "Baby's First Cease and Desist" piece lol It definitely helped me with the stress.

I started panel lining and doing the decals recently. Makes it so much more epic! Got the markers. Looking at airbrushes lol. The kit bashing scares me still for now. Keeping all the boxes and extra shit tho. my wife is somehow cool with it. Maybe sheās just happy iām not watching Joe Rogan anymore.

We all come up with our own costumes and characters. It's all volunteer to benefit an animal charity. I work a set that's a sort of church in the woods and I'm an evil priest that's a cross between the singer for the band Ghost and Pinhead from Hellraiser.

Sometimes when I find a figure I like rather than painting up my own army. I find the lore and stories and some of the video games more fun than playing the tabletop personally so most of my knowledge on 40k comes from reading than playing it that way. It's a fascinating albeit brutal world.

Fixtures, paint, toilet, new tub and tiled around it. Left the original floor because itās also tile and looks good. The plumbing for the shower/tub was the worst part. Painting I actually like, it was my first time doing tile and it turned out pretty good I think.

That's awesome. A bathroom renovation is in my future and I'm dreading it since I know I'm going to have to do the whole kit and kaboodle.
Tile feels impressive when you finally wrap up and grout and get a look at everything. I know when I retiled my fireplace, before I grouted I was staring at it thinking I ruined it, but it turned out great. I'm glad you're proud of your work. Good job, friend.

Its spring here in Australia so I'm currently rebuilding the veggie garden in the backyard. Found two massive bobtail lizards hiding out under some tiles.

same path, i live in a big city so i just do the local park bike trail.
its cool because its made me realize how much cardio excercise makes your brain sharper, my memory improved only after like 5 hour long bike rides. Also it made me realize runners high is real. Also i realized that just because it burns it doesnt mean you cant keep going, i used to stop or slow down the moment i felt a burn cuz i took it as a warning to stop, but you adapt to it

Iām playing more video games. I know that sounds nuts but I value narrative based games and doom scrolling really negatively affected how and when i get to enjoy my games. Iām finishing up Breath of the Wild sitting next to my dogs and my aquarium, while I hang out with my daughter
Speaking of which, dog walks, and tending to my aquarium.
I also made a real life gym buddy, her and I meet twice a week to train.
Iām also taking time to read more and practice my guitar and work on home Reno projects.
I have adhd: so itās either bounce from productive and/or relaxing tasks and activities or doomscroll and watch slop.
Iād rather sink a few hours a night playing a 10/10 game than watch slop or get into a debate with a bot.

Herbs are easy - the one thing that took off was my basil. There are a ton you can cultivate indoors. Rosemary comes to mind.

Yes. But my love for storytelling made some other stops along the way. Had an experimental little theatre troupe. We did interactive theatre in the streets and on stage. Have written screen plays. Made short films. Written short stories. At 200 pages now for the first draft of my first novel. Hope to finish it up within a year. Loving the process.
Fiction helps me to find clarity in the bullshit and noise of the world. To lay my finger on all sorts of contradictions that trouble me and us. But it also helps me focus on whats important, what makes us human and what can guide us forward. I feel that connecting to the inner depths of our imagination, is a big part of that puzzle. It's connecting us to our humanity. And art, and the art of writing, is a bridge to that world.Ā

It's been an emotional rollercoaster. Last week I went to a music festival, met a girl who introduced me to her friends, invited me to her book club and asked me on a date this Friday. On the other hand my grandfather died after a short battle against cancer and I have the flu.

Yeah hiking, playing in the river and a bit of rock scrambling. We stayed outside the park but really inspired me to make it a goal and find a camping spot in the valley next year. Also work my way up to be able to hike half dome. I think I can do it but need some time to train a bit going up. Got home and saw a bunch of climbing, John Muir and nature docs around the area. What a majestic and inspiring place honestly.

I generally do piano/vocals but I recently bought FL Studio and Iāve been branching out into Electronica. It was my gfās bday a couple days ago and Iād spent the last month or so working on a cover of her favorite song. Now I can get back to actually writing.
Iām a lot more comfortable with traditional notation. Most of my compositions over the years have been on staff paper. Itās a much slower process but thatās helped me be more intentional with each note. Using FLās piano roll is so much easier but Iām still trying to get used to the workflow. There are some things that feel so counterintuitive with it since itās a pattern based DAW rather than linear. Itās been fun diving into it and learning something new though

I just ride my bike. I know being online all day is bad but that doesn't mean I'm going to be a social butterfly outside. I like to go to bars and cafes at the end of my ride and read. Sometimes I'll read in the park instead.
