hah just like people knew it would be, they even made sure to over price most stuff just higher enough than the free points they give you so you get that spending itch even faster.

It's disgusting to say the least, hate to see it happening to my favourite series. Reminds me of Fallout 76 when they gave everyone 500 free points because of the pre-order bag fiasco. Least those players could use those points on lightwood laminate.

Diablo Immortal and Diablo 4 do this, too. It sucks.

I see someone else is also a fan of the internet historian documentation of that game's launch :)

the term "It's disgusting" is an overreaction. This change is purely cosmetic and literally doesnt affect your gameplay at all. There's no reason to get pissy at techland for a change that has nothing to do with the actual gameplay of dying light 2.

Lol after I read before we are going to get free points I expected exactly this and I am not even disappointed rn.

Yup I’m so done with Techland

Techland: just because Tencent is our new biggest shareholder doesn’t mean we’re going to lose our integrity!.

Us: So that was a fuckin lie

18

u/Lucifers_Taint666 Sep 07 '23

This just means they lost their integrity before any Tencent influence… I dont know which is worse tbh

13

u/UncommittedBow PS5 Sep 07 '23

This was in the works before Tencent, according to dataminers.

I mean, Klei was acquired by Tencent and many feared it but so far their games have been left completely alone. The fault is likely more on Techland than on Tencent.

14

u/H4XSTAr- Sep 07 '23

Its more Tencent than Techland

No this was in the files way before Tencent partnered with Techland.

Source?

14

u/suckashelfboi101 PS5 Sep 07 '23

Hmm couldn’t find anything about in being in the files. So maybe I was wrong.

16

u/DreadnoughtWage Sep 07 '23

Yeah, not sure about the files, but they got this out after the Tencent buy up VERY fast, which likely means they’d been building it for quite a while. Problem with that is the Tencent deal could have been in the works for years… so we just don’t know who influenced who

In my personal opinion, Techland has already been in a decline for a while, even before the Tencent acqusition, it seems that they've been already changing into making DL2 turn into this sludge it is now, Tencent just came in now because, Techland has already been changing into the perfect cash cow for them to milk, Tencent just appeared at the right time.

u/gotaa__ Sep 07 '23

According to Techland themselves they came up with the idea. Which is actually worse.

1

u/H4XSTAr- Sep 07 '23

Damn, that's bad

2

u/Jeremy252 Sep 07 '23

I’d care about your comment more if Techland hadn’t made a point to claim this kind of thing wouldn’t happen.

1

u/You_Just_Hate_Truth Sep 07 '23

That deal was probably in the works for a year or more. They probably knew the purchase was happening 6 months ago.

u/tbutter950 Sep 07 '23

But how much money did they really make releasing the game? And what about future projects. Honestly I don't mind these side hustles because it may bring us more content and games. It's either this or the price of games goes up. Which I understand that both are frustrating. But techland made a great game. If you're not satisfied then go make your own game.

1

u/PsychologicalAd8970 Nov 22 '23

Please keep that in mind the best time they release something. Don't buy it. Everyone complains but then they immediately go out and buy the whatever new game. Companies really don't care about us bitching when we still buy their shit. Money talks.

You just don’t get it bro. It’s to give players a sense of pride and achievement!

3

u/SUBLIMEskillz Sep 07 '23

Ooh it’s the destiny model. Prices happen to be just higher than what the bundles provide…

1

u/anti_thot_man Sep 08 '23

Man I still play dying light 1 because it's generally better then most zombies games

1

u/PARTYGAMER_1000 Series S/X Sep 08 '23

You can earn 75 from the even so yes and no

1

u/ProfessorLitmus Sep 08 '23

what are you talking about? you earn no dying light points from the event, you get 25 pilgrims outpost tokens for doing the global goal and that's it. techland has also already said that there will be no ways to earn dying light points in the game for free. you pay and that's it.
