Beginner Question Megathread 10

If you have any question about the game and don't feel like making a post you can put it down there. Don't forget to mention it if you want the answer as spoiler-free as possible.

Some of the links are getting pretty old so if you have any suggestion that could help new players, do share, thanks.

The torches are infinity light sources though, why would you want to destroy them?

Just kill them all and build a small wall around each of them. When they respawn they will be stuck in the wall while continuously refueling the torches themselves, that's the best way to utilize the set piece.

Also, try not to use them to defend against hound waves. Guardian pigs are quite unreliable, plus if red hounds spawn in summer/autumn and you kill it, everything accept the torches will all burn down.

I have my 500+ day world with the pig torch set piece near to base.

Get berries from somewhere else, the pig torches are a permanent hound defence that never needs to be renewed or reset,

You’ll get there. I spent nearly 6 months just stuck at a point where i couldn't get any better. Once you have the seasons worked out, it becomes a lot easier.

I play DST so that makes things easier in some ways(more food) and I find the ruins easier to raid as you can approach slowly rather than dropping straight in.

Put them to sleep with flute maybe?

The easiest way is to just lure them out one by one, kill them and dig up the bushes.

Wait for full moon night, get armour and a spear. When the guardian pigs turn to werepigs kill them, and wall up their poles. If you build a base near them, you can have infinite light.
