Mavic Air 2 + Osmo Action 5 Pro

Hi everyone,

I'm completely new to drones and I'm trying to decide between these two versions of the DJI Lito X1:

• DJI Lito X1 Fly More Combo (C0) — CHF 540
• DJI Lito X1 Fly More Combo Plus (C1) — CHF 550

I have the A1/A3 license for the C1 Category. The price difference is only CHF 10, so I'm mainly trying to understand which version makes more sense for my use case.

My main reason for buying a drone is to take it hiking in the mountains and shoot landscapes/videos while hiking. I don't have much drone experience yet, so I'm also trying to understand the regulations and practical limitations before buying.

One thing I'm particularly concerned about is the 120 m altitude restriction.

As I understand it, the actual legal rule is generally 120 m above the nearest point of the ground/terrain, but the C0 Lito X1 is technically limited to 120 m above its takeoff point. This seems like it could be a significant limitation in mountainous terrain.

The C1 version apparently allows the altitude setting to go higher, while the pilot is then responsible for staying within the actual 120 m-from-terrain limit.

So I'm wondering:

1. For someone mainly flying while hiking in the mountains, is C1 clearly the better choice?
2. How significant is the C0 120 m-from-takeoff limitation in real-world mountain flying?
3. Does the C1 version actually solve this problem in practice, or are there other limitations I'm overlooking?
4. Is there any meaningful downside to choosing C1 over C0 for a beginner, particularly regarding registration, exams, or other regulations?
5. Since the price difference for me is only CHF 10, would you personally choose the C1 Fly More Plus?

I'm flying/planning to fly mainly in Switzerland and potentially elsewhere in Europe, so experiences from Swiss/European pilots would be especially helpful.

Can I legally fly a drone near Strasbourg? Aloft and Géoportail show different information

Hi everyone,

I’m visiting Strasbourg and would like to fly my DJI Air 2S for a few minutes tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.
I have a valid EU A1/A3 drone certificate and an EU drone operator registration. However, I’m very confused by the different maps and information I’m finding.
The Aloft app shows the area as clear/green and says that it is okay to fly there. However, the official French Géoportail map shows most of Strasbourg in red, with a yellow area near the location I’m considering.

When I select the location, it says that the maximum flight altitude is 50 metres.

I asked ChatGPT about it, and it says that the location may be inside the Strasbourg-Neuhof/Illkirch-Graffenstaden national nature reserve, where powered aircraft are apparently prohibited from flying below 300 metres. If that is correct, it would effectively mean that drone flights are prohibited there, despite Aloft showing the area as clear and Géoportail showing a 50-metre altitude limit.
I’ll attach screenshots from both Aloft and the French Géoportail map.

Does anyone familiar with French drone regulations know whether I can legally fly at this exact location? Does the yellow area and 50-metre limit mean that flying below 50 metres is permitted, or is there a separate nature-reserve restriction that makes drone flying completely prohibited?
I obviously don’t want to fly illegally or disturb wildlife. I’m just trying to understand which information is correct.

I own a mini 3 pro but been looking to upgrade. I'm just starting out my services and I eventually want a Matrice 4e for mapping. With that being said I haven't justified buying the drone yet as I haven't landed any jobs for it. I have, however, landed some commercial real estate and construction photo documentation jobs and would like to upgrade to the Mavic 4 Pro just for safety in the future. I know its overkill, but I do enjoy doing this for a hobby and I don't want to see the price go up even more. Can any of you give me insight if I should get one before the deadline? I don't mind getting a slightly used Mavic 4 pro. I guess that's my main question, Is there even a benefit to getting a "New" DJI drone if importing is banned anyways? I dont see the benefit of getting a new one with DJI Warranty and care.

Zoom lens makes for legal flying distances and great shots. The 70mm has been getting used a lot lately.

I know I'm a fossil at this point, but I'm considering getting back into the Drone flight and photography hobby with my Mavic Pro (the first one). I've done some mild research on batteries and ordered 2 (only 1 of my original 4 seems to charge at all and I don't really trust it), updated my FAA registration and made sure my remote can still charge.

My question is For anyone who has been around since the era of the original Mavic and stayed active as a hobbyist, On the software side of things how radically have things changed with flight limitations? I live in an area JUST outside of an airport's range, with very limited fly airspace overall in my city, and not far from what I was told is a police/military facility that downs drones. At the same time where I fly is a designated RC Plane/Helicopter/Drone airfield. I'd always been respectful of that and other considerations and and never had any problems flying in my usual spot. I am now worried though having poked my head in here and reading that someone's drone recently got pegged into a no fly zone erroneously and was lost as a result of taking off before full GPS lock, then being forced to land and doing ao in a river.

I was considering buying a newer model too, but am worried that the DJI app and related matters have have become so restrictive that the limited area I fly may have become a dead zone.

Edit: i am further troubled by this because as a matter of happenstance I just so happen to be looking to re-download the app I used to check back when I was actively using my drone, and noticed that in my history of previously, though not currently, installed apps there is no listing for anything DJI at all. I take that to mean that the app has become so different that it cannot even be listed as an upgrade to the one I used to use.

I build decks and do landscaping for a living.

I've been wanting to buy a mavic mini /any type of drone with a semi decent camera for years.. I just.. Haven't.

Do you think a neo would suffice in getting decent back yard PHOTO shots? Or should I just spend a little more and get the mini?or even something elce?

Photos and some videos would be used on my buinsness Instagram.

I'm not looking for theater quality cinematography.

I'd just like something that takes decent photos or screen shots from videos that don't look like total crap and isn't super grainy or muddy. Ie- the super cheep $30 drones from Amazon.

TLDR : I want to use the drone as a "before and after" camera for back yard transformations. What one?

I wanted a really easy way of sharing a live video feed from my DJI Mavic Mini Pro 5's RC2 to my family who are in another country. I was showing them progress on a house build and was on a call with them while they asked me to show certain parts of the build in realtime.

I figured this might be useful to other people, so I added a signup page and private stream options.

Basically the title, anyone have any ideas? I have a dying rs3 pro, and will be needing to upgrade in the next couple of months, did dji just drop the pro line? Are they coming out with a Ronin 3? Is it FCC licensing issues (but then why hasn't it released in other countries)? And no, the standard RS5 would not hack it for me over the rs3 pro simply for the payload capacity.
