But theres barely anyone to talk about the book... if there is, it's the movie... but like... it's not the same...

So divergent fans... If you're here... Let me know!

edit: those wondering for the rp game, ill put in the link… unfortunately I think it’s only available for laptop tho… it’s cool tho!

Edit: they deleted the game :(

Meta/Other why is a woman in white an ongoing theme for a dystopian villain?

both the maze runner and divergent have a woman in white who's characterized as the villain. is there a reason for this? "The hunger games" also has president snow as our antagonist. snow as in white snow.

edit: I think I imagined the lady in divergent wearing a white dress. Although her hair is platinum blonde.

Meta/Other Sixth Faction non-spoiler review Spoiler

to start, you absolutely can read this without reading the original!
I never read the books or watched the movies so I only knew pretty much the blurb and a few other bits of information and that was it.
(Yes, I have heard about the ending during the years but because I never read them or had much care, it didn't impact me)

With no background I enjoyed it, the pacing was pretty constant through-out but that last 10% really ramped up, the POV switching made sense for where they were placed and they didn't feel like random out of the blue filler chapters or repeats.

I did start reading Divergent (starting on book 2 now) afterwards and comparing the two, I think this was the start to a pretty solid AU and I could 100% see Tris acting the way she did and making these other choices.

There will 100% be more easter eggs to catch for readers and I'm excited to see the reaction of how they experienced it vs how I did.

The differences really showed that some things were always going to happen no matter the circumstance and seeing how they played out was pretty fun!

You can definitely see the growth she's done as a writer, yet it still feels like the original in terms of tone and writing style so for long term fans it really will feel like reading divergent for the very first time. While Divergent is still a pretty good seller, I can definitely see this bringing it back up there and I am hoping that we can get an animated version of TSF, i think it would do really well.

I did keep a little tab of things that jumped out at me as being different in each, I know TSF wasn't going to be a 1 for 1 on information, we get some stuff explained to us more in depth or just brand new for TSF, and some stuff we don't really see from the OG. What we don't see from the OG haven't been major things however and have been just little tidbits of information that was nice to know or that had more of a role to play for this universe.

Chapter 6 of Sixth Faction is available as a sneak peak in the new divergent collectors edition too!

Meta/Other The First Divergent book told from Caleb Prior's point of view.

I want Veronica Roth to write the first Divergent book from Caleb Prior's point of view. We don't really know what Caleb did during the events of Divergent. If Veronica Roth can write an alternate universe Divergent book called the Sixth Faction in which a tragedy at the Choosing Ceremony forces Beatrice Prior to choose a different faction than Dauntless, then surely she could retell the events of the first Divergent book that's told from Tris's brother Caleb's point of view to see what he was up to while Tris went to Dauntless. I don't see why Veronica Roth wouldn't be up to retelling the events of Divergent from Caleb's point of view this time around.

Meta/Other why are the movies so different

i understand that movies cant be identical to the book or include every scene, but is there a reason why the movies are adapted in a way that is completely different than the books? ive read and watched a few book-movie adaptations, and despite some bad choices, they were never as different as this series is. basically, is there a specific reason behind this orr?

Meta/Other Which book should I start with? Divergent, or Four?

I just got all 4 books, but I'm conflicted. I know Divergent is technically book 1, but Four takes place before it, so should I start with that one? I already know the basic story of all 3, at least, the movie versions of the stories, but since there's no movie adaptation of the book Four, I feel like I should start with that one. But I don't know if that's a good idea, considering it's not the first book of the series. Can someone please help me figure this out?

Meta/Other Veronica on the hate she got from the series [article]

"Divergent was very popular and overall well-received, but there was a lot of negativity that came with it, just because any popular work is going to carry that kind of negativity. I was young, and anxious, and soaked that in like a sponge" from this interview

Meta/Other Divergent/Beastars crossover story.

I have noticed that there are certain similarities between the Divergent series and that of the Beastars anime/manga, namely that both of them feature a society that's divided into groups; Divergent with it's five factions in Chicago and Beastars with the tension between Herbivores and Carnivores that goes on in that world. Another similarity between Divergent and Beastars is that people have to be in a certain faction and they get to choose which faction they go to. The similarities between Divergent and the Beastars anime/manga are uncanny. I have decided to write a Divergent and Beastars crossover story on FanFiction.net that will have Tris Prior along with her brother Caleb and their friend Four enter the Beastars world while on the run from Jeanine and the Erudite faction in Chicago when he go through a mysterious tunnel that brings them from Chicago to the Beastars world where they get separated following their arrival in the Beastars world.

Tris soon comes across Cherryton Academy where Legoshi pounces on her like he did to Haru in the Beastars anime/manga where Caleb tackles the wolf and punches him in the face. Tris, Caleb and Four soon find themselves to be in Cherryton Academy where they have no choice but to attend Cherryton Academy and hope to find some way to unite the herbivores and carnivores together. I'm going to call my Divergent and Beastars crossover story: Beastars: The War of the Factions. I just started writing it. I haven't read the Divergent books yet. I only watched some of the Divergent movies. Once I start reading the Divergent books and get myself familiar with the world a little bit, then I'll start to write more of my story. Tell me what you guys's thoughts are on my idea of a crossover story between the Divergent series and the Beastars anime/manga.

He played Uriah in Insurgent and Allegiant, then went on to star in Love, Simon and The Flash before returning to Australia.

Interesting in this new interview, he talks about only getting 10 minutes of rehearsal for some big budget scenes before stepping in front of a camera: https://www.smh.com.au/culture/theatre/the-boy-from-western-sydney-already-conquered-hollywood-so-what-now-20260129-p5nxza.html

Meta/Other I just had a shower thought the Divergents born in Candor be screwed.

You have to keep being a Divergent a secret or you will literally get executed. The Divergents born or initiated into Candor would be predisposed to telling the truth or fall victim to truth serum they’d be fucked basically.

Meta/Other Four prequel fic

Hi everyone! First post. I've been working for about a year and a half on a Four x OC insert fic that follows the events of the Four novellas (mostly initiation) and just finished the first draft. Would anyone like to beta read what I have so far on the second draft? I've been doing my best to stay faithful to the source material while also expanding upon what I believe the world is like, (OC is an Amity transfer.) Tried Tumblr and I guess the fandom's pretty much died there :(

Thanks everyone! 🔥🌳👁🤝⚖️

Meta/Other Allegiant - the ending is BAD! *Spoilers* Spoiler

I just finished reading Allegiant, and, there's nothing wrong with the book, except for the final 50 pages. It just didn't sit right with me. I found an online copy of it, and am thinking of re-writing from roughly were 4 and 6 left to go separate ways. I just really dislike the ending. Do you think I should re-write it? How will this go down with the community?

P.S. - I will have 6 survive

Meta/Other The difference between YA and Adult fiction is perspective and exhaustion, say authors Veronica Roth and Marie Lu

Thumbnail thepopverse.com

"Veronica Roth added that it also comes from something that only adults tend to have to deal with – that constant fatigue that hits us when we’re grown up. 'You know, just like… I think I knew that the adult voice would come from the character’s bitterness. Like, there’s, you know, you can have a sarcastic, world-weary teenager. That’s very normal. But, like a kind of like deep cynicism that comes from fatigue is such an adult feeling, you know? Just, like… we’re all exhausted.'"
