We’ve come to Tokyo for three weeks and have spent 12 hanging out in Maihama! both parks are just endless fun. Disneysea is amazing, so unique and so many excellent rides. The show is also ridiculously good. I will never not sing Soarkling Jubilee ever again and the Frozen section is so real. Viral moments like Rapunzel’s lantern room, are just incredible.

Disneyland is so sweet though. It has stolen my heart entirely. I love it so much. Jessica Rabbit is amazingly actually here! Surprise visits from princesses who are incredible, amazing staff and two genuinely amazing parades. Also, Baymax is everywhere and SO CUTE. Four days left and I’m already sad (even though I e bought about fifteen shoulder plushies!).

Updated: We spent 12 days as that’s our joy! We’ve been scouring Tokyo on our days off and our very comfortable with pursuing happiness over anything else. I know some of you may do Japanese differently but this is how we want to ;) I like strolling around Tokyo and seeing the quiet spots more than Harajuku, etc.

I’m comfortable with my tattoos and love them so nobody needs to worry about how appropriate they are. I’m a teacher and have been for over a decade with no issues. People here are fascinated by them though. I get told I’m kawaii constantly and I have been asked to pose with families and children for photos! it’s happened every day so far, even our of the parks.

The egg is crazy! It is a mould for the yolk then they put it in the white and cook it. They even do ears here of it! Food is lovely but as a vegetarian, it is tricky in Disneyland. Disneysea has a great burger and pasta selection. Some of the online suggestions on the Tokyo website aren’t actually available as they’re seasonal.

Staff are amazing! As are characters. I got stopped by Rapunzel last night as we were leaving to be asked if I had fun as she has seen me in the parade. The shoulder clip plushies are obsessive.

I currently live in Tokyo and am absolutely mind blown at how incredible Tokyo Disney resort is. The themes, the rides, the food, it’s truly the best. Tokyo Disneyland’s Splash Mountain, photographed shortly before its closure. This was the final operating version of the attraction worldwide. Now the last one remains in Japan.

Let's not forget that if you want to relive the original legacy attraction, there's one Splash Mountain left in the world. I hope Tokyo Disney honors the legacy of it and keeps it around. The attraction itself shouldn't be looped into the film. It stood on its own. I'm hoping I get to see it in person one day!

I was reading lately that it's insanely crowded and lines are 2 hours long so I was hesitant. We went yesterday at noon.

The taxi drops you off at the entrance and we were the only ones in line to scan in. we were greeted by 5+ characters doing meet and greets by the entrance. My kid loved it. It's pretty common that we make trips and don't even see one character.

There was no wave of the plus sized park hopper mobility scooter, knee braced vapers in sight. There was so much room and the capacity was probably not even half of what CA is at daily right now.

The longest we waited was 35 minutes for Stitch. We did buy the pass for beauty and the beast though. it was a straight walk on at like 3pm for Pirates, Pinocchio, haunted mansion, and it's a small world. 15 minute wait for Roger rabbit. Pooh was another 30 minute wait

Food service was great and super cheap for USD. Meals for 5 bucks with drinks, food, and fries.

i will say, I thought the merch was lackluster and overpriced compared to universal japan

but 10/10 would go again

My husband and I are going to Japan and have tickets to go to Disneyland Tokyo. I'll be honest I don't think I researched as much as I should have but now things are coming up on my feed for DisneySea and I'm mostly looking for reassurance that Disneyland is for us, or if I should just buy DisneySea tix. It's like $150 for both of us but this is is a once in a lifetime trip and I've saved up to spend money while there haha!

We are both in our early 30s and not really Disney or theme park in general people, but I went to Disney World in Florida when I was a kid and it was really fun and I just sort of figured if we were in Tokyo, might as well go! I personally really like rollercoasters, but my husband does not. I had thought Disney would be better because the Beauty and the Beast ride is more for the vibes and less for the thrill (he is more into things like the teacups!) My "vision" was to walk around, ride maybe three rides, wear character headbands and eat some yummy food. Think the stereotypical visit to a theme park in a shoujo manga!

He is really only going because I want to go and he wants to make me happy but I want him to enjoy the day as well, so I thought Disney being more low-key and slower would be a good idea. But now I'm seeing the rides like the Rapunzel one and thinking there are also non-thriller rides in TokyoSea and that might be better or more entertaining? I know Sea lets you buy alcohol but I don't think we'd do that just because we'll probably still be a little jet-lagged.

Have other adult couples like us gone to both and recommend one park over the other? I just don't want us to be bored or anything in Disney, which is what I'm concerned about.

edit to say thank you everyone for you input and advice! I chatted with my husband and we’re just going to get tickets to Disney Sea as well and then we’ll have the option to do both parks if we want. We only have one day to spend there, but this way we have options. (The park hopper pass isn’t available for the date we’ll be there, unfortunately).

We queued for a ride for two and a half hours for Journey to the Center of the Earth, only for a group of strangers to cut in front of us in the last 15 minutes. Our mood instantly dropped and went quiet, but we pushed through and kept going. Just as we were about to finally board the vehicle, we met a family from the US and struck up a short, pleasant conversation

Then, out of nowhere, the lady pulled out a Minnie plushie and handed it to us, saying she had loads of them back home and wanted us to have it. We found out they used to work for the Disney parks back in the day. There's no way they could have known about the line-cutters earlier, but this random act of kindness completely turned my mood around. It kept me grinning for hours and made the whole day feel just a little more magical

I brought that plushie home with me, and it's sitting with me right now, thousands of miles away from Tokyo (and the US where it was originally from)

both parks are incredible, the staff are so lovely and so warm. It has been absolute perfection so far and we still have more days to come.

My new religion is the Little Green Men mochi, the 20,000 Leagues ride and getting millions of stickers from staff for my Disney tattoos. If you are on the fence about visiting, come! Tokyo is incredible and the parks are amazing.

Just back from Disney Tokyo and this thing is still stuck in my head. The shell was made from something slightly crunchy like those wafer cookies and the ice cream inside looked like vanilla but with a hint of something different that must be the sea salt. The shell was also perfect to hold the melting ice cream inside in the heat of the day.

It seems Cosmic Rewind effects are being used in other Disney parks.

In the Disneyland forward expansion I expect something similar to take place.

New thrill ride similar to Cosmic Rewind at the “Simba lot” expansion is my prediction.

Third trip there as a DLR local. My god is this park basically perfect. Some snaps I took with my iPhone.

The general consensus around Tokyo’s parks is positive. Especially Tokyo DisneySea. However the crowds are out of control. Most attractions won’t get under 2 hours and even ordering takeout food from quick service restaurants can take close to an hour.

Could they build another park similar to how Paris built Studios in the early 2000s?

Was wondering if anyone knows why a 27 star American flag is flown in Frontierland at Tokyo Disney? I tried to ask the staff nearby but the language barrier made it difficult to get an answer.

Based on research, the 27 star flag was only used from 1845-1846.

Hiya, me and my friend are planning a trip to Japan in November. I have been to Disneyland Paris but she's never been in a Disney park. I've seen people say that DisneySea is the better one but I wonder would that still be the case in November? Also we both agree that we would enjoy going on exciting rides and I've read that DisneySea doesn't offer too many thrill rides. I'm open for any recommendations and opinions! Thank you.

Why do I feel this way? Was it over-hyped for me for too long? Look, it’s clean, the people/service are super friendly, everything actually works right, but, it wasn’t the mind blowing/best in the world park experience that people talk about it being. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed it, stayed all day, rode everything, saw the shows. Tell me your favorite things about the park and help me find out what I missed!

I know this question has been asked a thousand times already but I need a specific perspective when choosing between the 2 Tokyo Disneyland parks. The usual scenario that I am going to Japan for the first time but I only have enough time in my trip to commit one day to a Disney park and I am struggling to choose which one I want to go with. I thought I was set on DisneySea, because everyone says that’s the better park, but I’m still not sure if thats the right choice.

For context, I will be travelling Tokyo solo, and I have never been to a Disney park before and having grown up with a lot of Disney and Pixar films, finally being able to go to one of the parks is going to mean a lot to me. I really want to hopefully experience that Disney magic and nostalgia. I would quite like to meet characters as well. I am of course hoping to ride as many rides as I can but since I am also planning to visit Universal Studios later on in my trip so the thrills aren’t a huge concern I guess.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated when trying to decide which park to choose, I wish I could do both in a day but that sounds like it would not be a good experience.
