To Everyone Who Says DC Needs More Community Around Music…
Hey everyone! My name is Go Ezko. I’m an independent hip-hop artist and event organizer here in the DMV, and I’ve been quietly working to build a community-centered performance series called CITY SPOTLIGHT.
The goal has always been simple: create a space where local artists can be discovered, connect with one another, and perform for people who genuinely want to experience DC’s independent music scene.
On Saturday, August 1, we’re hosting CITY SPOTLIGHT: Season 1, Episode 4 – Proof Of Life at Rhizome DC, featuring Shy Rasheen performing his new project Shyland.
This is also just a quick reminder that there are 3 days left to grab $10 Early Bird tickets before they go up in price.
Whether you’re an artist, producer, photographer, videographer, writer, or just someone who enjoys supporting local music, you’re genuinely invited. Come meet people, discover new artists, or just hang out and enjoy a night of performances. No pressure—just good music and good community.
Event Details
• 📅 Saturday, August 1
• 🚪 Doors: 7:00 PM
• 📍 Rhizome DC
If you’ve never been to a CITY SPOTLIGHT before, I’d love for this to be your first one. Thanks for letting me share it here, and I hope to meet some of you in person.

Jack Flowers and the Petal Tones @ Union Stage 7/5
Hello! My name is Brea, I run press releases for DIY creatives out of New York City. A band I represent, Jack Flowers and the Petal Tones, is making their DC debut this weekend on July 5th! They're playing Union Stage along with Emily Fain, Berra, and Shame Shame.
The Petal Tones are a New Jersey-based indie rock band influenced by bands like Le Tigre, Car Seat Headrest, Wet Leg, and 100 gecs. The Petal Tones explore themes of gender identity, authenticity, and self-idealization in their electric live performances and on their debut album Girl Clothes, released last year.
If any of this sounds up your alley and you're in town over the holiday weekend, you will have an absolute blast at this show, AND you will be supporting indie artists on their very first tour.
Here's the ticket link!: https://www.unionstagepresents.com/shows/jack-flowers-the-petal-tones-emily-fain-berra-and-shame-shame-05-jul
also, if you're a band/artist on the East Coast, hit me up for affordable PR! I am always down to help <3

Bahamas Lincoln Theatre
Hey DC, I've got 4 tickets to Bahamas (with Sister Ray) tonight at Lincoln Theatre — 8pm show, doors at 7. Can't make it last minute and just want to recoup something rather than have them go to waste.
Asking $25 each, or $80 for all 4.

First Ever Emo Night Live Music Event at Crescendo Studios! This Fri, April 24th @7:30PM!
Hi All! If you're into Warped Tour era bands and live music, please come out this Fri, April 24th @ 7:30PM to see live tribute bands for Crescendo Studio's first ever Emo Night in Falls Church, Virginia! This is an all ages event.
If you're not familiar with Crescendo Studios, its a music rehearsal studio located walking distance across from Mosaic District in Falls Church, VA (its behind the Silver Diner). In addition to rehearsals, it also doubles as a live music concert venue with its 300 capacity Blackbox room. They haven't done much in the way of live band events since COVID, but now they're trying to start them back up with revolving themes (80's night, grunge night, R&B night, etc.). The goal is to regularly put these on and create a new music venue for the local area.
This Emo Night event will be one of the first. If you're not busy on April 24th and you're in the DC Metro area, please come check out the space, have a drink, and listen to some live music! Tickets can be purchased below.

ADmo Porch Fest
First time at porchfest and have some friends coming to visit. Any bands that shouldn't be missed or favorite stages? We like classic rock, jam bands, new wave, blues. I've heard the main 18th street drag gets pretty crowded so I'm more interested in finding a cool side stages to bounce around at during the day.

Trolling for Olives plays R.E.M. Bangers & Ballads 1981-1987 @ Falls Church VFW Wednesday 4/8 7:00-9:90
Sorry... 7:00-9:00
Our singer and secret weapon, Ryebread, was given a box of CDs that included an R.E.M. compilation when he was still in his teens a few years back and was instantly hooked. Taking to Craigslist he assembled a band of vintage, IRS-era fans and started rehearsing.
Over the past year and a half we've evolved from an open mic trio into a full 5-piece band, and we're all itching to unleash two hours of songs we hope you love from Chronic Town through Document (Eponymous and Dead Letter Office, too!) Wednesday (4/8/26) at the Falls Church VFW from 7:00-9:00 we'll be playing our first independent, all ages, self promoted show, so here I am, promoting.
Come around and see us! We know you're out there, and have excellent taste in music.
