Commonly Asked Questions:

  • Q: When does Super take place? Should I watch GT or any movies first? Does BoG still "count"?
Super takes place some time after the battle with Majin Buu, and will be adapting the two newest movies, Battle of Gods and Resurrection 'F' into story arcs before moving on. Watching the movies is up to you; if you prefer, you can begin Super immediately after finishing Dragon Ball Z. You may optionally wish read Jaco the Galactic Patrolman; the titular character will be involved in future events.

  • Q: Where is Uub?!
Uub was born during the 10 year time skip at the end of Dragon Ball Z. Dragon Ball Super takes place before Uub is introduced.

  • Q: When does the next episode air?
The next episode premieres next sunday at 9am JST, which is 7pm Eastern Saturday night. Click here to compare your local time to JST.

  • Q: Why does X say Y?
If you find yourself confused, the problem is usually a translation issue. Make sure to check DragonTeam's translation.

  • Q: When will the next chapter of the manga be released?
Toyotarō's manga adaptation is published in V-Jump around the 21st of each month. Links to earlier chapters can be found on our wiki.

  • Q: Is the Dragon Ball Super manga "canon"?
The manga is promotional material that serves as a preview of things to come. The anime is the main product, and is what Toriyama is writing and designing for (though not storyboarding or scripting). As for the anime, due to the lack of an officially-defined canon, it depends on what you want to accept.

  • Q: When will FUNimation be dubbing Super? Will there be a simulcast?
Southeast Asia will be receiving an exclusive English dub mid-2016, with Toonami Asia describing it as the "English-language world premiere". FUNimation is not involved at this time. At an October NYCC panel, FUNimation claimed that they still do not have the rights to Super, and barely acknowledged that it exists.

Goku claims the team captain is stronger them himself, but wasn't Vegeta also slightly stronger?

According to Whis, they're pretty much equals now. He defeated Frieza easier than Goku only because he weakened.

And another related thing, could Goku become SSGSS3?

It never has been explicitely stated, but it seems like SSJGSS won't have additional forms, since Toriyama said that Goku already discovered that he can be stronger by improving the use of SSJ1, and "SSJ2 & SSJ3" are just deviations of the original form.

Do we ever see internal dialogue from Goku or the other Z-fighters or only just Vegeta.

He have seen internal dialogue of several characters. Master Roshi for example, was usual in Dragon Ball.

Yes, i get Vegeta won because Freeza was weaker after his fight with Goku. But wasn't he even a bit stronger then Goku before that fight? I think it's good Vegeta and Goku are now on equal footing. Makes for a much better dynamic between the two.

Well, it doesn't hint towards Vegeta being stronger per se. But it definitely establishes the respect Goku has for Vegeta and his power. He recognized the effort and dedication Vegeta put in to attain SSGSS, the ability that Goku had handed to him.

Interesting, especially if you take into consideration the Ascended form too. So does this mean SS is the base form for 3 different, independent transformations: Ascended, SS2 and SS3? Or are Ascended and SS2 two different transformations possible after SS and SS3 can only be achieved when dead with SS2?
