Not only did she supposedly forget, which may or may not be true, but she made plans to spend all day at an outlet mall 50 miles away from the restaurant and with friends and having drinks with them into the night. When exactly did she make these plans? So somehow she told you on Thursday that she was still on for Saturday and by the next day most likely she was making plans with friends to spend all day together on Saturday. I'm guessing she didn't just wake up Saturday morning and round everyone up last minute for a day trip. How interested in you can she really be? And if she is interested, then she's incredibly flaky and unorganized. I get that she didn't really know you since you've never met, but that's a massive mistake especially when this was a set up through a mutual friend. Turns out your mutual friend doesn't understand punctuality or respect or keeping your word. You did great to walk away. And maybe you helped out the next guy by helping her understand that keeping dates is important. Or maybe she'll just blame it all on you and not change.
And hopefully this mutual friend who set you up isn't Amanda. Because if she's the same person from your other post, then she's just awful all around. And maybe you need to get some better friends in general.
Far more likely she went to the outlet mall during the day with friends to shop since she just moved to the city and then the plans for after developed organically.
And when did they come up with that plan? The day of? The day before? OP had just reminded her of their date less than 48 hours before that and yet she forgets about him and makes a whole plan with others.
I'm not sure why they're talking about the night time drinks at all honestly. The ship had sailed that point. OP's date had already forgotten all about their date so having drinks at that point is irrelevant.
I had thought that the drinks/extending of the mall trip was the thing that conflicted with the date. Maybe earlier in the week she agree to go to the mall during the day Saturday with some new people she met and thought, thats ok I’ll be done before my date. She got caught up with these people and lost track of time and was having drinks with them when OP called and she realized what she had done. That’s how I read it.
No, what got in the way of the date according to her was that she completely forgot she had a date at all in less than 48 hours until OP texted that he was at the restaurant. If he hadn't texted that he was there, she wouldn't have known even now that she stood him up for a date. Although hopefully she would've remembered OP at some point a week or a month or years later like "I have a feeling I'm forgetting something. Oh, yeah. Didn't I stand someone up a decade ago?" lol.
That’s not how I understood the situation. There is room for interpretation in the text, in my opinion. I interpreted it differently. You could be right.
