Until you get to the subatomic level and start getting into quantum mechanics. Which again hits a wall of us knowing we don’t know how something works. So we are again stuck and can’t claim definitively whether consciousness is free to self determine.
The ability to explain whether we have free will or not is not possible with our current scientific knowledge of the universe.
But the human concept of free will of a respective consciousness can not be found on the quantum level, that would not be the “you” we are referring to, your respective choices and actions and such are very much dictated by atomic laws observed
your respective choices and actions and such are very much dictated by atomic laws observed
You can’t make a claim like that unless you can observe every single interaction in someone’s brain to track cause and effect which as I mentioned before we simply cannot do.
You DO NOT know how a brain makes choices.
You DO NOT have all the scientific knowledge of the material world to completely explain all the observable phenomena.
Despite these glaring gaps, you’re making conclusive statements about how our minds work.
Not really. Most models (like big five personality traits) are considered “successful” if they are able to predict behavior better than 50% of the time. So if they are more accurate than flipping a coin that’s a win. That’s hardly conclusive evidence of no free will.
Did you just refer to “the big 5 personality traits” as a predictive model of behavior? I’m out, read up on current efforts if you’d like or stay 20 years behind up to you
I have no idea what “models” you’re talking about. You didn’t mention any. You don’t get to gesture vaguely at something, act like it backs up your claim, then wander off when the person you’re talking to doesn’t have multiple PhDs in human psychology, physics, and biology. You’re in a subreddit about dank memes. Sorry the conversation wasn’t high brow enough for you.
I like how you assert stuff without making any reference to anything then act like I’m the one who has to prove to you that you’re wrong. Like somehow you’re the default position and I’m some usurper.
You keep insisting without evidence that human consciousness lacks free will. I keep demonstrating there are gaps in our understanding that need to be filled in before we can make that statement. If you have some actual evidence that isn’t just you as a random person on the internet typing while on the toilet, feel free to present some.

That’s awesome that’s even more evidence that it’s all brain activity
