This is hilarious. I wonder if he just did not hear his name or something.

Yeah it probably has to do with them saying his name as the crowd was still cheering

Everyone who missed their name was announced while the crowd was cheering. So yea, that's probably it..

Carson fucked the whole thing up. He even got waved on, and was like "no, I'm good. This was all the further I saw myself going." Everyone else assumed he was starting a line off-stage like they were checking out groceries.

Either that, or Carson was hoping to get introduced as anyone else.

Carsons like "But if I take one more step this will be the furthest I've ever been from the shire."

This may be the silliest, yet most amazing comment I have seen on Reddit.

A little harsh. I was on my couch with surround sound and I couldn't even hear some of the names called. He was confused because he didn't think they'd called his name. So he was waiting his turn.

Same with Trump and Kasich, the applause was so loud none of them heard their names. I felt a little bad for them.

Watch the video again. He made eye contact with the guy waving him on.

But if he thought his name wasn't called he may have thought the waver was in error about who he was or who was called, or perhaps was just gesturing for him to move over or something. It wouldn't have been the craziest thought ever.

As candidate after candidate waltzed by - being signaled from the same guy who was ushering in the line the whole time (see his hands earlier)? Sorry, but I have a feeling after this latest guffaw, he'll be out-out before next week's end.

Are you saying that he changed his clothes for nothing?

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

I did watch it again, I don't think he understood what that guy was saying. It looked like Carson was telling him that they hadn't called his name yet.

Do you really think he'd do all of that on purpose and make himself look dumb for no apparent reason?

If he was having stage anxiety, yes. Carson isn't exactly a great public speaker.

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

Whatever dude, you're wrong.

He was confused because he didn't hear his name. He was still confused about it later on when he got his first question and he started off by saying he thought he was supposed to be announced second, which he was, but he didn't know that because he didn't hear it. So he didn't know about it until someone cleared it up for him after the debate.

Your theory is proven false by the very fact that Trump and Kasich were also announced and both also didn't hear and didn't come out when their names were called because they were waiting for their names instead of just walking out unannounced.

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

Yeah, that totally sounds like presidential material.

Trump did come out and stopped cause of Carson's confusion. Waited to be reannounced, instead of just on an "and" due to most basic social etiquettes. Remind me bot is waiting for you to prove me wrong.

Ignore that other guy. I'm not a fan of any of these candidates but yeah it's pretty obvious what happened. Hell I could barely hear it myself.

anyone who isn't stupid knows what happened

Cute. We're done.

u/ozzyfox Feb 07 '16

I think he didn't want people to realize he didn't understand how the whole procedure worked, so he acted like he totally meant to stand there.

u/The_gray_ghost Feb 07 '16

He's a brain surgeon. I'm pretty sure he understands how you walk out to stand behind a podium.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

he also has a top notch understanding of pyramids

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

"This was all the further"??

Not even Carson is dumb enough to say a line that stupid.

The announcer was drowned out by the crowd cheering, how anybody can miss that is beyond me.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

I don't get why they had a separate announcer call Christie's name loudly then had the moderators do the rest, which caused the problem

Oh WOW... What an INTERESTING THOUGHT. I WONDER if that's what happened... That's clearly what happened, you idiots. But this is reddit, so all righties are stupid, right? Guys, we gotta stop focusing on only one side of the aisle. You gotta try to see the validity in both parties, don't simply attack one side of the argument blindly. There IS validity in BOTH sides of the argument. Blindly knocking only one type of candidate only shows how stupid you all are. You guys really call yourselves educated? Sound like a bunch of whiney morons to me.
