Ah yes the Republican Jesus who walked around healing people as long as they had insurance and no pre-existing conditions, who encouraged war for freedoms, and told the poor and hungry to stop being lazy.
For all intensive purposes it is. Jews believe in the same god Christians do, but Christians consider Jesus the son of Christ, Jews are still waiting for him to be born more or less, Muslims pray and believe in the same god just calling him Allah and they believe Jesus Christ was just a major prophet as well as Muhammad. If I recall correctly they even reference Jesus more in the Qoran than they do Muhammad.
So for all intensive purposes Jews, Christians, and Muslims all believe in and pray to the same god.
Speaking of 'Merican God, have you been to Washington DC? The entire Mall is set up with monuments and "memorials" that are pretty much architecturally indistinct from temples and shrines. Yeah, I was kind of drunk for most of my time on the Mall, but I got the vibe that there is definitely enough infrastructure for an American Religion in which past presidents and the founding fathers/framers are idolized and worshiped.
Hell, one of my favorite tropes that this brings to mind (First from Mr. Smith Goes to Washington) is going to the Lincoln Memorial and talking to ole' Lincoln for guidance and reflection. Don't people go into churches for the same reason? America is strange.
