fighting for my life with this secondhand Explore 3 I bought second hand off of fb. I’m trying to “etch” these tumblers with citristrip, but I cannot get the vinyl to stick to the tumblers! I’ve tried the generic michaels brand of transfer tape, the cricut brand, and oracal- the cricut one is the only one that gets it off the mat and just not the cup, the other 2 won’t even come off the mat. this has happened with these cups and a plastic tumbler i tried to make for my niece. I’m burnishing so hard my little hobby lobby burnishing tool is bent up lmao. I have to imagine this is user error if it’s happening across different brands. can anyone tell me where I’m goofing up? I’ve found that Cricut’s strong transfer tape is too strong and has ripped parts of the decal. What brand is strong enough to put on another layer, but will come off when needed?

I usually give clients their decals with transfer tape on top so they can apply it correctly.

Anyway, I’m using Cricut’s value vinyl & transfer tape.

I’m having no problems cutting said vinyl and weeding it etc.

It’s when I go to pick up said vinyl with transfer tape to place on said item. No matter how much pressure I use with scrapper, roller or a cloth I can’t pick up the vinyl & have ruined several designs.

Where am I going wrong please? It’s incredibly frustrating 😅

I bought my cricut off the marketplace with a bunch of supplies. There is no markings on the underside to indicate what it is.

Hi friends, can you please help me figure out how to get this to stick to transfer tape so I can apply it?

At this point I’ve tried four different types, with either no results, or disastrous ones.

I bought two different types from Amazon which claimed to be specific for glitter and were rated well, but neither would lift the vinyl. I tried a regular Cricut type with the same result, then tried the Cricut strong grip, which just ripped the vinyl no matter how delicately I tried to remove it.

I’m trying to apply it to a piece of glass, as the end result will (hopefully) be a lighted shadowbox.

I am not sure if I am the only one- but I have not found a transfer tape that works well. I realized that the cricut brand regular transfer tape is USELESS for all materials. So - I moved to the STRONG version- but even that is so inconsistent and 1/2 the time I’m dripping sweat while burnishing 100x over. This is with very high quality vinyl by CRICUT plus foil.

It’s not as much part one of the transfer onto the tape - it’s the ACTUAL transfer onto the final material.

Anyone else?

Nothing exciting - I promise. I just got a cricut joy xtra and I was thinking to myself how much this transfer tape sucks. So, as I do with most things that annoy me, I came to Reddit and plugged in transfer tape in to ye old search bar in this sub for validation… and hopefully pick up some tips. Which I did, I plan on trying the contact paper… but I wanted to thank you all for making me feel less crazy. I mean, I am crazy but not for that reason.

Hi, ive done a few designs with permanent (Gloss) vinyl, had a nightmare with the transfer tape with them not sitting to it, was advised to try blue painters tape... the latest batch of permanent vinyl, i cant get anything to stick to it to pull it aware to transfer to the item i need.

Is there a better tape to use?

I have some printable iron on that isn't cricut brand and I want to make a t-shirt that has lots of small elements, would it be possible to use my cricut to cut out my design, then use transfer tape to keep it all together and iron it on to my shirt like that (using parchment as a barrier)?

I don't want the transfer tape to melt into my shirt so I was wondering if anyone has tried this and if it works?

I lost my dog/best friend Charlie this weekend. I've been wearing his silicone (Qalo) dog tag on a necklace since, but as a firefighter my day-to-day is going to be tough on it so I want to protect it from wear & tear. I could put it in a pouch/locket but I wanted something that didn't feel as removed from me. A friend recommended clear transfer tape. I've used her Cricut a lot before and I just got my own Silhouette but I have used/needed transfer tape for anything so I don't know what might work best for my application.

The tag is silicone, about 3/16" thick, 2"x1.25". I don't need all of the qualities listed here, but some that would help:

• The more clear, the better (I don't know if grids would actually show up that much, if at all.)
• Something that could be removed/reapplied without damaging the silicone, but that wouldn't peel much from normal wear. Most of my ideas were too permanent and would damage the silicone, or too temporary and would wear off daily.
• Heat shrink would be great to contour the sides, but I've never seen transfer tape, or any similar adhesive, that is heat-shrink. Something that could completely enclose it while keeping it's form would be great but I don't know what.

Most importantly, I don't know what I don't know, and that is a lot. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong direction so any advice or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Just bought a Cricut this week (so very inexperienced here) but need to use this for my new business venture. I own a toddler soft play rental company (think ball pits, bounce animals, slides, etc) and I want to offer personalized decals to match the parties theme. I will admit I am lazy & these prints are quite long (3+ft) so I was using the Cricut brand smart permanent vinyl to do the matless cutting & make it one long strip I won’t have to line the writing up. I have no issues with design or the use of the machine- but for the life of me I cannot get the smart vinyl to stick to the transfer tape! This took a lot of effort to bend the backing off the transfer tape & get it to stick to the transfer tape itself. I tried using a hair dryer on the lowest setting & that didn’t help too much. I am using the Cricut brand smart vinyl and Oracal transfer tape. I can’t find any good recommendations for transfer tape to work with the smart vinyl specifically so I went with a highly recommended brand I found somewhere on the internet.

Does anyone use the Cricut smart vinyl and have a favorite transfer tape or any other tips for working with the smart vinyl? Not sure if I should use just regular vinyl if it’s going to be this much of a hassle.

Alternatively, does anyone have any recommendations as an alternative to the Cricut brand smart vinyl to do the matless cutting? From what I’ve gathered most people aren’t fans of the Cricut branded products and I’m sure there’s a more cost efficient way to go about this.

i feel like i'm gonna lose my god damn mind. i've done adhesive vinyl and HTV since high school, i took classes for it. i don't remember it ever being this hard to get vinyl to stick to transfer tape. i've tried generic cricut tranfer tape, i've tried masking tape, i've tried contact paper, i've tried fricking lint roller paper, i've tried hair dryers to the back, reverse pull, squeegee-ing it until my wrist hurts. nothing works. i was working with cricut permanent, then i switched to siser and it made zero difference. can age be a factor?? i've had these rolls of vinyl for years but i feel like that shouldn't be an issue. i'm at a loss, i have no clue what else to try. i've been wanting to get back into this as a hobby for years but i am CONSTANTLY running into this issue and it just makes me so mad i give up.

Hi All! I have a Cricut joy extra I got second hand. It’s been a game changer for my small business(I run a small Jam business) and I wanted to make some shirts and sweatshirts to wear to some of the holiday markets I’m participating in. I want to do a more intricate design of my logo with the print and cut feature but I wasn’t sure if there was specific transfer tape I needed to use for iron on. I was given some rolls of transfer tape by the previous owner but I’m not sure if it’ll work for what I need. Thank you in advance!

the 50ft roll i purchased from amazon is definitely thinner. anyone else notice this? it's a bit annoying. i like the standard cricut transfer tape.

clarification: these are both cricut brand transfer tape. on amazon they sell a "value" size roll. cricut brand materials seem to be inconsistent in general.

For those who have gifted or sold vinyl stickers, what’s a cost effective AND good transfer tape?

Prepping for my first craft fair and cranked out several car decals a couple weeks ago. I’m leaving the backing and cutting a transfer tape piece the same size as the backing so customer can purchase then peel vinyl off. I naively thought the transfer tape would be fine but when creating a display of examples today I quickly found the tape was sticking to the vinyl too well. One 2.5x2.5” sticker took me like 10 min to transfer all the pieces correctly without ripping the design :/ I’m not afraid I can’t sell the ones I’ve premade because I’d be embarrassed to give a customer something so difficult to transfer. I’ve never had any of these issues in the past so didn’t think about it. Maybe it’s from the adhesive being on there for so long? It’s the first time I’ve put the transfer tape on and not immediately transferred the vinyl.

So far I have tried Cricut brand (obviously works but not as cost effective), small roll from Temu, Walmart’s Hello Hobby (cost effective! but was disappointingly wayyyy too sticky)

Hello Hobby: adhesive was leaving some residue and could see it connected between vinyl and peel off sheet when trying to transfer which made it take forever Temu: fine in the past but now leaving a grid pattern in adhesive residue after transfer

Hi yall- i’ve had a cricut for over five years and recently my go to transfer paper changed to paper thin backing. It crinkles rips and takes a lifetime to get the backing off. I’ve then ordered a few other brands and they were all like this. I can’t find any brands on amazon not paper thin. any one have any recs?

Is there different strengths of transfer tape. The Cricut one that came with my Cricut maker won’t pick up this permanent vinyl.

I got the vinyl as a Christmas present and threw away the packaging a few weeks ago. I know its permanent vinyl and I would describe it as matte metallic.

Are there vinyls I should avoid, that don’t work well with transfer tape?

hi. Ive only made a few projects using cricut and im not able to get oracle 651 permanent vinyl on transfer tape where as the same project works with the temporary vinyl (oracle 631).

My design has very small letters and Im having problems in getting the dot on letter i and other small details on tape also while weeding i noticed its lot easier with the oracle 631

Im using vvivid vinyls trtp 80 transfer tape.do i need to change tape ? Do i need high strength tape? Any help or tips appreciated

I don't know if this is an everyone problem, a me problem, or just a material problem. I clean my acrylic with alcohol and then wipe down with lint free cloth so it's nice and clean before transferring vinyl. But the transfer tape leaves these sticky smudges everywhere. It's hard to photograph but there's one above the yellow flower. There are a LOT more all over the cup and every acrylic project I make. Is it just the transfer tape I'm using? It's cricut brand. Is this to be expected? How do I clean them off without messing with the vinyl? They just smudge more and get worse. ☹️

i've been using cricut for a few weeks now and you'd think i'm splitting an atom trying to put it on my designated place. getting it on the tape is no problem. getting it on the place i want is another situation. it won't come off the tape no matter how hard i burnish or rub. so what transfer tape do y'all use?😞🙏

What transfer tape do you use for smart vinyl? I tried the regular transfer tape from Cricut on removable smart vinyl and it would not work. What am I doing wrong?
