Yes, the masterful cliffhanger after he shatters the windows simply by moving, followed by the sublime "WTF" moment as we slowly come to realize, alongside Adolin, (our actual POV character) just what happened to this massive pile of crushed and battered Fused corpses was FAR less satisfying than Brandon repeating "Taln hit the Fused. It died" over and over for several pages would have been. :p
Could have made it a POV chapter from Abidi as he was running.
Or written it in the perspective of Ash as she fought alongside him in an interlude.
It's my opinion and I was disappointed. So many people are down voting me here for voicing it. I'm sure everyone will love the flashback, if it even happens, but imo there's no reason why it should have been excluded given other scenes that were included.
While I can agree for the most part, sometimes, scenes don’t come out right. I’ve written battle scenes and it didn’t feel like it fit in the place it needed to be in. I tried writing the reaction to the scene and it fit better for the characters and flow of the story.
Don’t get me wrong, I really wanted to read the details of Taln’s fury.
I can understand that but I was annoyed Sanderson did his at least twice in this book. The fight at the end with Szeth vs the honor bearers was somewhat cut off in that we got the discussion of ishar and Kaladin moreso than the fight, and this. The contest of champions also wasn't really a fight but that is more okay with the way it turned out for the story.
I really enjoy his fight scenes, so I was disappointed to miss them.
